Blimey that sounds a bit harsh! sure it will be fine once you have the niggles sorted out, I've had my T5 near a year, ride every day, never failed to start, broke down or snapped any cables......err yet! ;D

MOT testers are fickle, and have their own little peeves they vent on the punters.
My PX was MOTd yesterday, and although it passed, I got an 'advise' for the noise of my exhaust. The exhaust (Simonini) was even newer for the last MOT and therefore even louder, and at that testing centre it sailed through with a nary a word about it.

Yeh, I guess they could fail many scoots on that as many aftermarket systems are not made to Brit Standards/kite marked, are they able to test for noise though, or just for leaks?

Well, as you can get a ticket for a noisy exhaust (there's even a recommended maximum decibel level if I recall) I suppose they have a point. However, the fact that I got an 'advise', which I've never even heard of before, rather than a fail, suggests to me that if he could have failed me, he would have.
My advice is to find a sympathetic MOT testing centre. There's two or three here in Merseyside I can think of. Got my Sprint tested at a different place a couple of weeks ago and they were really good. Did it while I waited, seemed really interested in the scooter, and instead of failing me on a bulb that had blown on the way there, they just fitted a new one for me.

Got my MOT in a coupla weeks, my Simonini is a bit of a concern, since the end can fell off and got flattened by a car, I've had to shorten it by 15mm and then repack it, sure it's louder now

Don't ask me why , but I was on an MOT forum last night and apparently as long as an exhaust does not say 'not for road use' on it, they won't fail it even if it has no kite mark.. And on the noise, it's down to testers discretion, there is no db test that can be applied..
