With regards to the license types .... Am I right in thinking that if I take and pass the test on my PX 125, after 2 years I could ride anything (and automatically get the A2 license)? I only need to do it on something more powerful if I want to have the full A2 license there and then?
That would suit me perfectly as I have no plans to ride anything over a 125 any time soon, would just like the option if I feel like it later when I'm more experienced - without having to do another test.

Nearly right. You'll have to take the A2 test on a T5 or LML - the only vespas powerful enough and accepted, or a 125 motorbike. After 2 years the restriction is lifted and you can dress like a ninja turtle and ride a sports bike ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png) PX125s aren't accepted for the A2 test. It's all very confoosing isn't it ![???](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/huh.png)

Ah ballix, that's what I thought was the case originally. I'd just misconstrued Spence's post and given myself false hope. I know at the place I done my CBT you can hire a motorbike that would qualify for the A2 and take the test on that, but I wouldn't be very confident on one of them, gears with a foot pedal and all that. Would rather do it on my own scoot that I'm comfortable with now. Think I might just have to accept the limitation and go for the A1 test then. It's just the experience of going uphill in Buxton on my PX that has left me with the hunger for more power at some point! ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) Is there any where I could hire (for the day) a T5 or LML from? And would the riding difference be significantly different from the PX?

I'd either try and find a school with a T5 or learn on a motorbike, just so that you've got the licence under your belt. I did my CBT on a twist n go, and then we bought the T5, Spence taught me how to use it and wheelie on it, and then I took my A2 test on it it just before my CBT expired. I haven't ridden a PX, but I wouldn't have thought there was much difference between the PX and the T5 (except if it's modified <cough> ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) ). It's worth ringing round some local schools to ask if they will lend out T5s - some of them do. You might even consider one of these courses where you stay for a few days and take the test at the end of it. As long as you can control the bike, you'll be ok - you're used to gears, so you should be fine.
