Hi all,Please forgive me , but iam at present just a wanna be.I Don't own a vespa or Lamberetta, and ive just come to the end of cutting my teeth on an Aprillia gp 50,derestricted of coarse.I have always been well into SKA since a kid in the 1970s.My garage workshop is now empty after selling my vintage Austin 7 special so now its time to treat myself and iam now looking into a vespa or lamberetta to build and ride,a 125cc for starters as iam cbt for now. So after finding this website and forum,i thought-Well i had to join. Cheers folks... Nigel.

Hi Nigel, saw your entry on our guestbook, thanks very much for the kind words. How did you find us incidentally? We're always interested to know.
Don't worry about having a TnG, we don't look down on people here, there's plenty of other sites that do that without us joining in. Take your time to browse some of the threads that are already on the forum, I'm sure there's one or two from novices looking for start-up advice that might be of use, but if there isn't, feel free to start your own.
We've got some great members here with hundreds of years combined knowledge of the scooter scene who are more than glad to welcome new blood.
What part of the country are you from? I could direct you to your nearest club which is always the second best place to start, after vespa.org.uk of course.
;D

Cheers spence, and thanks for the great welcome!.. I stumbled across this forum by just typing up vespa on my search.I live in Basingstoke Hants, so apparently theres a good scoot club down here,I met some club members last year at our local classic vehicle show, and told them my desires, they were a good bunch of lads.I cant think of anything better than getting out on a sunny morning and grouping up on a club run to where ever, and thats what i must do , saying all that ,i must get shopping for a vespa to match me desert boots,I would proberbly buy a sad one and restore it myself, Ive seen the good gear that JC Scooters have to offer! cheers again buddy and keep up the good work, great to be on board!.... nigel

Welcome Nigel, as everyone says this is a good friendly site. I came from classic cars to scooters as well, although my car only had three wheels and the company also made scooters, not so much of a jump for me. Vespa's are so much more fun than cars. As well as being easier to look after and take up less room so you can eventually have more of them (well that’s my plan anyway).
I would take Spence's advice and seek help from a local club though. There will always be someone from the club willing to go with you when you go to buy one. Most members are extremely friendly and more than willing to help. Don’t do as I did and buy on your own! It’s so easy to fall for the first bright shiny scooter, not see the obvious and end up paying over the odds. I’ve been lucky in that at least mine has been reliable but I could have got a lot better for what I paid.

Have you been to In The City Scooters in Newbury? They might also be able to offer some good advice.

Hi dunworking, and a big thanks for your welcome and advice,Yep i had enough of building cars,I restored a 68 morris minor,a 1967 triumph 1300,well almost, and a 1933 austin 7 special, well almost,Cost way too much and too much space taken up.Ive been riding for a year now on my little t&g mainly across town and back and forth to my pops workshop,so by now i must say ive got the buzz . My folks were mods in south london in the 60s,He told me he had a moto rumi (sorry if i spelt that wrong) and ive always admired the whole mod scene,Glad its still going strong. I took time in looking at the photo gallerys on this website especially the IOW run, I tell you i cant think of anything better, the pics told it all. So i better get cracking and lay down some plans, and get to know my future pride and joy.Once again mate i will take your much appreciated advice,so many thanks......nigel
