Have you got a budget set? Are you after a brand new model or secondhand? Go to www.vespa.com to look at the new models and prices, and get yourself a copy of 'Scootering' magazine (www.scootering.com) - there's a trading section in it for second hand scoots. Avoid that 'well known auction site' for pricing - it's too overpriced. If you need a bike to pass a test on, buy a vespa T5. Chat to your local scooter club (again, lists found on scootering.com website) and they'll be able to give you some proper advice

Have you got a budget in mind? My modena's great and not expensive either. Mine was bought online though, and I don't know of any shops that stock them! There's Davida too - but I'll have to ask the chief about where they are, they've moved recently to Birkenhead. I'm thinking about getting one myself. Welcome to the forum by the way

best sticking with someone you know works for you. I've found virgin.net pretty good, they make a good attempt at helping mac users too, which is a nice change

This isn't as filthy as you might hope, it was an ad campaign commissioned by Piaggio back in April. The campaign's now over, but the demo is still online. Each video clip demonstrates an erotic position, and stars two catwalk models floating on wires and ‘interacting’ with each other above and on the scoot. Don't play it if you've got people looking over your shoulder! kamascooter.com/demo/u: kamademo p: 5C5Kb6rN

Also, register your scoot with the Vespa Club of Britain - they get enquiries from the police about scooters they've found. www.vespaclubofbritain.co.uk/

In your opinion, I'm interested to read which vespa model you think is the most attractive - I'm a bit partial to the Rally...you?

I only got asked about my T5 after the test , he said "is that a 150, I'm sure T5s are 150"... He didn't ask for proof, just saw the stickers I suppose. I spoke to the DSA about it a few weeks before and they said only the T5s can qualify for the Standard-A-restricted-for-2-years-bike-test (A2), definitely not the PXs. I would have gone for 60mph on my test, but it was too windy and he didn't want to take me over the flyover near the test centre. Can you borrow a T5, or take a couple of lessons on a motorbike?

I'm sure I spotted Donna walking past camera in the background in her Brasil t-shirt at the Southport rally.

I shouldn't have mentioned the gears - I forgot us that us girls usually bugger up gears on any vehicle

Thanks I did mess up my 2nd-3rd gear twice, but got away with it until I managed to clunk the handlebar in place. I think it's due for a service

Someone's left a T5 with no L plates on it in my garage, does anyone know anything about that? the mudflap was filthy underneath the L plate and it's a bit faded round the edges too

Thanks again Andy1, I found the test hard work, and I was concentrating so hard my nerves didn't kick in. It took 30 - 35 minutes. Got the eye test first, then the technical question about 'what do I check for on my tyres', then rode around the streets for about 10 minutes and he stopped me on a quiet side street to walk a u-turn with the bike, park, then start up and ride the u-turn (bit wobbly, but the street was bloody narrow!). Then I had to ride round the block and do the emergency stop. Then more riding for 10-15 mins and back to the centre when he asked about taking pillions. I didn't go on a dual carriageway because it was a bit windy. Just made sure I did lots of observations (which I kind of do anyway having no mirrors ). I didn't take an instructor with me - they usually wind me up anyway, but I did half an hour on my own before the test to calm my nerves - worked for me anyway. Definitely recommend it to anyone - if you can drive a car, it's not any different to a car test.

Sure you'll be fine if you've had a few lessons I must admit - the lessons put me right about observations over the shoulder etc, got rid of a few lazy habits. I think the instructor was a bit gobsmacked that I'd been riding around without mirrors too , but he said it's probably a good thing as it forces me to look over my shoulder.

(thanks Andy)
Bryno - thanks too. Yes, I passed my theory back in February - one less thing to worry about.
I've had a couple of lessons recently, and the instructor was trying to get my to use a bike too, but I told him he was already ripping me off, so he let me off ;D. Seriously though, his only issue was that he thought my clutch lever reach was too far for my girly hands.
Oh well, if I fail, I'll just do it again, I'm sure some of it to do with luck on the day.
