I'm removing the studs on a 150 GL to fit longer ones for the SIP tubeless wheels that came with it. I've been winding them in and gridding off the flared out hollow bit at the rear before winding them back out the front.
3 came out the rear fine using two nuts locked together, 2 striped the thread on the stud and are yet to be removed, by either welding nuts on or drilling out.
Front was harder, only got any out by welding a nut on, 3 came out but the 4th one has cracked the hub, all of the hollow flared part was ground off and it still cracked when winding it back out.
Are hubs available anywhere either without studs or with longer studs already fitted? I'd rather not risk breaking a new one.
13.8mm thread on axle, has a keyway and a taper which is roughly 16 to 22mm
