Hi, I'm new here, just bought a Vespa in bits to keep me busy in the shed for a while. Apparently it's a 63 GL 150, and hopefully it'll turn out to be complete or at least not missing anything that's too expensive.

Thanks for the welcome.
I collected it last night. I'll take some pics when I get a chance but what I believe I have is....
1962 GL150 frame, forks (assembled, PX mudguard), handlebars (assembled), panels etc. All looks reasonably straight with good paint, has a few marks from storage, frame white everything else blue. Unregistered.
Many other nice bits; BGM shocks, sip wheels, sip road 2 exhaust, sip dash, new loom, new cables, 24mm dellorto side draft (which may be too big), GL mudguard (unpainted).
Engine is a piston ported Spanish GS150. Rebuilt 9 years ago and dry stored unused, no detail on the rebuild but piston and bore look new. Sip road 2 has been modified at the clamp to fit. Indian 12v ignition.
I'm unsure which way to go with the engine, at this point the scooter is just a project it may or may not end up being a keeper as due to limited storage I'll have to sell something when the next project comes along so I should be sensible with the budget. The sensible thing is probably to just use it as is, after inspecting and possibly new crank seals. I don't think I want to 160 kit it, it's expensive at around 470 plus crank plus carb, if I were to upgrade I think the money would be better spent on a different motor. I'm tempted to look for a P/PX 200 or I've seen new Indian 5 port 150 LML engines on eBay.

Itβs running but needs work. Hopefully the members can help with advice and guidance. Best of luck ππ Tony

Thanks Tony, and best of luck with your project as well.
My next job is to figure out the wiring, starting by working out what I've got.

Thanks Tony, and best of luck with your project as well. My next job is to figure out the wiring, starting by working out what I've got. Same here π Think Iβm going to strip mine down and do a full nut n bolt job. Have this picture in my mind if how I want it to look. Going to sort the body work / re spray, new trim etc. New wiring loom, refurb engine and upgrade rest. Looking forward to the challenge, even though I have no idea what Iβm doing. Just finished my MK3 Cortina - hope this will be a tad easier. π€

I messed up the paint on the front mudguard and had to start again so I haven't got around to the wiring yet. It's the only bit I'm painting it's a pattern/Bajaj mudguard which suits the scooter better than the PX one that it came with. Nearly finished just letting the paint harden for a few days before I flat and polish it.
I've found some hand written notes from the PO listing the wiring colours for stator, regulator and CDI. Also read the manual for the SIP dash.
I'll have to lookup how to post pics here, if I switch from the mobile to desktop version of the site the editor has an image option but it doesn't work with Google Photos links.
