I’ve just got running a Harry Barlow 218 cast cylinder with 60mm crank. Has anyone got any jetting information? 24/24 carb with Polini Box. Currently 170, BE3, 135, 55/160 idle. Thanks

Update: I've done about 60 running in miles and it's fine and smooth until 1/4 throttle then gets very stuttery (like a morse code message) and is unpleasant to ride. It is less noticable under hard acceleration.

Can the idle screw have a big influence at light throttle? It's a Spaco carb with 1 1/2 turns out at present. I think I've read somewhere it might need to be 2 1/2 turns out?

Hello scuffs try turning mix screw half a turn out and see how it goes if better try a quarter more if it dosnt work. you can put it back where it was.you might need to go up one number on the main jet good lunch cheers alan.

Hi Alan. Do you think the 135 main is too small? This set up is new to me, hence my post. I'm trying to find out the set-ups other people are using - unless these cast 218's are a rare beast.

Hello there not sure about jet sizes I just went 1 size up to see how it ran but I only changed the exhaust to a sito.the rest is basic. Mine splutters a bit when pulling away but at 40-45 it seems ok.good luck cheers alan.

I have been experimenting to try cure the running problem. I had the engine running without the air filter and noticed that the idle speed had increased slightly, also that the engine revved more cleanly. With the engine still running I dropped the air filter back on to the carb and straight away the revs dropped slightly and the the engine did not rev as smoothly as without the air filter. Would the air filter make such a difference, especially at tickover? Is this something that other people have come across? The air filter is drilled genuine P200 one. Would a deeper T5 one be an option to cure it? Thanks

When I had my scooter dyno, the guy doing it told me to not use the air filter, and it would run better, but i still run the filter as can't see that much improvement
