Hi all, in the process of overhauling the front end on a px200. I have the forks out and want to fit a new outer front brake & speedo cables. Any advice on fitting? I think I saw somewhere about using a wood screw to join old to new cable and pulling the new one through using the old cable. Don't want it to come undone half way as it is all a bit tight! Cheers

From memory you feed the new cable down and as it passes the hole it is meant to come out of the cable is at the wrong angle to come out of the hole, therefore you need to use a bit of welding rod or similar with a hook bent in it to hook round the cable and pull it out of the hole. Like Mij says check out youtube videos for a better description.

Would anyone like to post video urls to help this question - it sometimes can be more helpful than referring people to use Google/YouTube for a number of reasons (perhaps there are alot of videos to trawl through that aren't that helpful that may be incorrect advice) Thanks.

That would help, all i seem to find is replacing the inner cable or replacing the outer gear cable which i know is similar but its the getting it through the hole on the front of the fork leg that looks difficult. Thanks Steve

Thanks Steve When I have replaced the inner and outer front brake cable I tape welding wire to the lower end and put it through, I then use it to pull the outer cable through, fron the bottom to top then feed the inner from top to bottom, job done. Hope that makes sence. A

No right or wrong way, just whichever you feel is best for you. I just pull both inner and outer completely out. Using a accelerator cable, push it through the fork hole up the fork tube. Then push the outer down over the accelerator cable, when it reaches the fork hole flex the inner so you can push the outer through the hole. I find this the simplest way for me. PS. Don't forget to take the accelerator cable out or you'll not get the inner Speedo or brake cable down...
