Hi everyone, I am slowly getting all the parts I need for a cutdown project and I need some recommendations for a stand and rearsets please. I will add some pictures soon. Adrian

That's the problem with cut downs, how far is it being chopped? Could modify a sidestand for it? Or cut and shut (and lengthen I suppose) a centre stand?

It has been cut right back on the floor, so was thinking about modifying a side stand , but wasn't sure what would be a good one, want something that is up to the job and wont fall apart in 5 minutes

Try and Google "Vespa cutdown pictures" , you may get a good idea of what others do, Bud. 😉 Here's an example of what you'll find, think it's got the side stand on that piece of whatever it is, just to get a better photo 😉, as you want the scoot leaning over more, so the wind etc, can't blow it off the stand easily. www.germanscooterforum.de/topic/265152-hot-rod-cutdown/Mij ☺

Any small peanut sized tank that measures up and fits. I found one off an old Suzuki 125, and also from a Cagiva/Harley Davidson (125 2 stroke, absolute pain for parts.....) depends what sort of shape and style you're looking for.

I have been looking on Ebay at tanks and they all seem to long 😕 I am going to start looking at bike breakers near me and see what they have to offer. A

Hi everyone, another question with my cutdown project. Hi have a brace bar welded from seat to steering column and was wondering what center tanks other's have used. Thanks Adrian That is too hard to answer, as everyone fits the crossbar in different places, usually to suit a tank they have, or to fit a specific tank. Have in the past fitted: DT 125 tanks, Harley Davidson type peanut tanks are a cutdown favourite, one one one of my cutdown at the moment. HD, type twin cap Mustang tanks are also a favourite fitting on lots of cutdoons. If you can't find a tank to fit the space you have with the crossbar fitted, you may find it easier remove the bar and refit it, after you find tanks you like the look of. Mij ☺

Thanks mj, I hopefully won't have to remove the bar,as that's another step back 😕 . There seem to be lots of stepping back with this build as it evolves. Originally was going to build a chopper after buying the frame from a mate, and thinking that it would be a quick build, oh I was so so wrong and the budget sheet was screwed up and thrown in the bin . A Adrian, totally agree, been there, got the t-shirt, ect😉. Having built more than a few chops and cutdoons in my time, best advice I can give you is ; do a dry build first, by putting the whole scoot together, to make sure everything fits. Then strip down for painting, then rebuild. Nothing worse than having to drill, cut, or hammer 😉 on new paint to change/add something . I have done that a few times, in my quest to finnish a project quick. 😉 Good luck and any more questions, just ask. Mij ☺

Thanks for your words of wisdom, will be doing a dry build first, still trying to get all the bits together, frame was already cutdown when I bought it, was going to build a chopper out of it, but have changed my mind to a street racer. The other half isn't impressed, as she rides a standard px125, so now she wants a p200 or a kit, so more work for me to do 🤯
