Hello all,
I'm wondering if anyone can help me from punching, kicking and swearing at my scooter?!
It's my first ever scooter strip/paint/rebuild, so a steep learning curve (and I am enjoying it!)
Painting all done (by myself, quite proud!) I'm rebuilding now and tried kicking it over today, however, no spark? I made sure I didn't take off the flywheel/stator when stripping down so I didn't muck up the electrics! I also took a picture of the lil junction box and matched the coloured wires up. I'm wondering why I haven't got a spark? Could it be the coil gone bad? Or something else that I've completely missed?! It was running before I stripped it down!

Do you have a good ground connection?

I'm wondering this too! Excuse my stupidity, but where is the ground? As I painted it, I'm wondering where I've painted over the top and it's not earthing properly

Are you in Scootermaniacs SC? Good people, who will always give you advice. Where in Somerset are you?

I wasn't, but I am now! Thank you! I'm only in Taunton so I'm sure there will be some local people

Was the bike running before you painted it? Those wires look to have seen better days, whilst the bike is apart id look to buy a new loom or make one up and change them - I have a 12v conversion but there should be a black wire coming out of the main loom that needs to be grounded.

I wasn't, but I am now! I'll see if there's anyone local to me in Taunton

Thanks for your input all! I ended up getting a multimeter and checking continuity between all the wires, everywhere! Loom is all good. Ht lead is good. So only thing left is stator plate and points? Trouble is, I've not got a flywheel puller to see which stator I need! I think it's probably worth replacing the stator anyway. Are points easy to do?

Seriously, don't waste your time with points in 2019! Replace it with an electronic setup, set the timing & forget all about it.

Perkin, excuse my ignorance (maybe stupidity, that's definitely an option!) but switching over to electronic? Does this mean 6v-12v? Or is it something even easier like just switching the coil over for a different one?
