I have a vespa 200 that when run for 10/15 minutes races full throttle even when ignition is turned off. My first thoughts were sucking air so I've replaced cylinder base gasket, carb to airbox and airbox to engine case gaskets but it still does it, the idle speed is slightly high too and adjusting it doesn't seem to do anything??? The gear oil seems fine, no signs of fuel so I'm happy drive seal is OK. Now I'm lost as to what it could be... Any help

Is it running lean? Is it about to seize?

Yea it's def an air leak but was baffled because the first thing I checked was gear oil and it seemed fine so onto the carb changed all gaskets and base gasket on barrel but nothing has changed, so it can only be seals?? But found out late last night it had been given an oil change very recently.. Lol so that answers the gear oil mystery.. Lol so new seals I think... Thanks for your help, this is a really handy site with top people on board. Thanks again

Scooterboy65, you could try removing the breather on the clutch cover, starting the engine, the put your thumb or a finger on the breather hole and see if the revs drop, if the revs drop, clutch side crank seal is gone. Some carb or brake cleaner squirted at the carb gaskets will tell you if all's well there, too. Or.... The best way is to pressure test the engine, you appear to have a few scoots, so may be worth while getting the tester parts.👇 scooterlab.uk/engine-pressure-testing-leak-cheap-tech/Mij☺
