bought a barnfind et4 off ebay, apparently had been left in garage for 4 years and just needs new ignition barrel.
that was not the case as plastic panels are in bad way and the whole scoot was full off crap with ivy growing through wheels.
I have managed to remove glove box, rusted and b*ll**ed screw heads, thats where the last owner gave up, though he did take off horn cover and loose it.
I took off plastic ring with wire and can now pull out lock front plate and barrel about 3/4 inch before it jams up, how do I pull the lock barrel assembly out of the lock tunnel bit and change barrel, thought id ask before hammering from behind or drilling barrel, and what am I to do about immobiliser.
Any help would be appreciated, as I would like to see if it runs as I was told before trading it on.
Are et2 the same size as et4 are parts panels ignition systems the same, seem to be a lot spares or repair on ebay.

changed out the lock barrel, only my ignorance made it difficult, ignition switch clip was missing from rear was missing so had fun making one, had to do a bit of rotary filing to get steering lock to function, needs a bit of wiggling to engage, trying to find a way to hot wire immobiliser, will apply for v5 tomorrow morning hopefully will turn out ok, but if not will get ebay to make seller return my cash. Hoping I don't have to spend 60 quid on cdi bypass unit. , From the tiny egg shell I guess critters were family of wrens.
dear god of ebay I absolutely promise not to buy any more projects and no scooters without v5, no novas, dating certificates from bullys school of scooter restoration or any such malarkey.

sh*t me hedgeling106, I can agree with that!! Mine even had a number plate but it wasn't old enough or worth enough money for the Vespa Cunts of Britain to help me, so I got a Q plate for a 82 V reg 🛵. Not that I'm bitter..... 😈

not planning on getting another car for while, as hoping et4 will get sorted, as my son wants a house with a garden, and it aint gonna be cheap, were both sick of the damp stinking dump flat with poor white trash neighbours on drugs. getting rehoused seems impossible, as even though my sons special needs they've privatised peadatric care and my sons peadotrician cant even write me a letter, its bloody virgin now and they don't care and cant be bothered to help.

V5 Applied for, guess I just have to wait and see If it's hot or not, not willing to spend any more cash until I hear from dvla. Still may see if it I can get it running off car batt. Still plenty of crap to clean off it.

when you apply for v62 apparently they write to the previous owner and say did you know someone is applying for v5 for your old bike, oh I do hope it is kosher and he hasn't moved on or something, I really am too gullible when it comes to these things. And it not like you cant buy an et4 with a v5 for 200 quid. I guess it was local which swung it.
Anyway had fun doing plastic repairs to legshields and glovebox, stich welded the cracks together with gas soldering iron and went ok mostly. Changed lock barrel on saddle. cleaned crap off floor mats which took forever.
If the front horn cover is missing its a sure sign that either it is stolen, or somebody tried to steal it and screwed it up. Id say they tried to but didn't manage to steal it cause its not hotwired and wouldn't run. so no horn cover and no v5 is a big no no. there is another one on ebay spares or repair at mo without a horncover, an unsucessfull theft and scoot has never been fixed, so perhaps ill get lucky but I dought it.
I bet the London lot are laughing cause they all know these things but im just a dumb arse country boy so im learning the hard way.

I'm only a carrot cruncher from Lincolnshire, but it's all a smokescreen.... I'm 15 minutes away from the home of B.R.M. any old school race fan will know that name... 😎 As far as the v62 goes, it'll be the longest month/6 weeks of your life!! Just in case though, don't do much more work to it, and keep an eye on a cheap scoot, a half decent P range isn't all that expensive as you might think... look at the pages on Facebook.

What happens if dvla is unable to contact previous keeper, or it is stolen?
After watching scooter gangs on utube iv decieded not to replace horn cover but to make metal cover from alluminium plate and rivet on.

If it’s stolen,,it belongs to the insurance company,,they might let you keep it ,can’t be annoyed with the hassle But you would end up on a q plate, (this is what used to happen a lot of years ago) or they just might want it back,,to scrap As to rivets on the cover ,,,why not ,,just drill them out when you need to,,

Got a letter from dvla, saying thanks for v5 application, we should process and issue v5 on 07/11/18, hoping this is a good sign and I will have a v5 next week.
May buy a donor scoot and break it, as parts list is growing. maybe make enough money selling parts to break even and get shiny new parts, and a engine I can just drop in, plus demobiliser and keys, battery, new relays, number plate holder etc. should be on the road in day if I do, an electrics dont cause issues cause engine is not same year. If Anyone has done v62 application and can let me know if the letter is a good sign or just normal procedure, kinda worried about buying parts scooter as v62 might go pear shaped, but don't wanna let a good opportunity slide.
Busy studying electrics, and modern vespa engines, hopefully will all turn out well.

V5c for et4 arrived in post today, along with a car tax rebate cheque for 45 quid. Descions need to be made, whether to buy bypass cdi for fifty quid. And try fix what I've got and replace missing parts. Buy spares and repair 125, hopefully running and do transplant surgery. Buy donor et2 from bristol for horn cover, number plate panel, battery, saddle, better floor panel and glove box and relays.
Buying running et4 125 donor scoot 250:to 300 quid, would be unlikely to right colour panels, but transplant electrics fuel system and engine and handlebars in one day and have parts to sell.
Buying running et2 50 with rotten frame in bristol 100 to 125 quid, would give me all panel in right colour, plus option of to transplanting or sell 50 engine and electrics
Buying bypass cdi 60 quid and hoping I get a spark, still have a fried electrical system, most of which needs replacing and missing panels, which are not cheap to buy on eBay. Who knows if the engine is any good or will run.
Possibility of buying joblot of parts cheap on eBay, but won't get correct colour panels and was kind of hoping to avoid much respraying.
What do you reckon lads

Ugly, well it aint no gs or ss90 sport, yet im liking it, the easy to mechanic , simple design genius, italian masterpiece. No tunnel or stupid rust traps, and you can trash it. And not care, even if its raining.

Have bought job of parts off ebay, including complete wiring loom and electrical system, from pre immobiliser scoot, im hoping that cdi will work and work on a later model engine. Also comes with relays and heasdset so i can hopefully change out relays and switches that are not reparable, ive had a go at mine but with mixed results. Also will get spare regulator and coil. Plus spares nuts and screws, number plate holder, badges and stuff, anyway im hoping at least some of the parts will work at least.
