Start! by The Jam on Bargain Hunt today, and get this, a set of music questions on Trojan Records on University Challenge tonight. The geeks from Manchester Uni got the Bob Marley, Jimmy Cliff and Desmond Dekker ones right, but missed The Pioneers.
I didn't.

Gimme Some Lovin' by The Spencer Davis Group in an Activia advert starring the delectable Martine McCutcheon. Come Up and See Me (Make Me Smile) by c**kney Rebel in a furniture advert. Nowhere To Run To by Martha and The Vandellas in Flog It (probably a repeat) the other day. And finally.........The Animals are on at The Bahnhof, Bad Salzuflen, Germany this Sunday. I'm just wondering if it's worth €24 for what appears to be a completely re-worked line up. Happy New Year everybody!

BFBS 1 are playing Paolo Nutini's 'Ten Out Of Ten' at least twice a day, and I have to say that I'm not getting fed up with it at all. Makes a change from that boring Lily Allen. Still that's the difference between ska and s***e, I suppose. Spence's old mate Dave Symonds is broadcasting a top show daily from Camp Bastion, Afghanistan, by the way.

That's a coincidence, because my mate Dave Simon's broadcasting from Bastion as well.

That's a coincidence, because my mate Dave Simon's broadcasting from Bastion as well. Sorry about the spelling error. I've sent Dave an email telling him what a great job he's doing at the sharp end. Great news about Terry and the boys getting a top line tour.

It's me again, Billy No-mates. A quick burst of "The In Crowd" by Dobie Gray on The Antiques Road Show yesterday, as a woman drove in in a Mary Quant upholstered Mini, with a lot of Mary Quant memorabilia. PS There was a Vespa in "Material Girl" on Thursday night.

You'd think that with the wife away in the UK I'd be able to get out a bit more, but no, I've just had a big back tooth out and I'm off the alcohol until it's healed. So - 'You Really Got Me' by The Kinks on a BBC advert for sports coverage.

They've obviously still got the same person picking the music for Bargain Hunt. New episode today and it had Victoria by The Kinks, London Loves by Blur, Fire by Kasabian and Grey Day by Madness.

Green Onions (what else?) On some BBC2 programme about the impact on having Michelin star/s on restaurants and chefs. Fortunately, I didn't see it all, but it would appear that it helps to get stars if you are French, or have restaurants in France - Funny old thing! And, did anybody other than Spence and me see those two fab programmes on BBC 4 the other night about the British Blues scene?

Went to see Mitch Ryder last Wednesday night. It wasn't quite what we expected as he did stuff from the whole of his lengthy career, but the man's still got a fantastic voice! We got him to give us an autograph, and when he heard Spence had come from Blighty to see him, he invited us backstage to join him for supper. We had already eaten, but spent a very interesting half hour or so chatting and discussing the UK music scene. He's a thoroughly nice bloke, and this experience is one for my memoirs.

It looks like Come Dine With Me is vying with Bargain Hunt to be crowned as Lifestyle TV Programme that uses most scooter music. They reguarly us Booker T & The MGs, Ramsay Lewis and Georgie Fame tunes.
Also, I see the new Cadbury's ad is using The Only One I Know by The Charlatans.
