Even in Germany......... I know not everybody is a Ska/Reggae fan, but 3rd - 5th July in Cologne there is a massive festival with such acts as The Beat, UB40, Bunny Wailer, Sly and Robbie, U Roy and many, many more. Cologne is a great place, and if you are a real fan, I suggest you give it a go. Details at Summerjam.de.

Been on business in Scotland for a couple of days. While I was in the hotel bar, one of the CDs playing on the loop was Moseley Shoals. Then when I was checking in at Edinburgh airport, The Stone Roses were playing on the PA. No escape.

For those with access to digital radio, I'll be talking to Liz Kershaw this Saturday on her BBC Radio 6 Show between 1300hrs and 1320hrs BST. They're doing a Mod and Soul special, and I've been asked to chat about the scene, and choose a couple of tracks from a favourite album.
To make up for not getting round to writing a review of The Pretty Things gig yet, the album I've chosen is their second, Get The Picture? Listen in to find out which tracks I'll be playing.

They won't have it on BFBS. Will I be able to listen on-line, without having to do something techy? Are you going to mention the Bielefeld gig?

I will if I get the chance. You can listen live online, by going to the Radio 4 website, or through your Sky on your telly, or you can listen again if you miss it using the Radio 4 website. Here's a link: www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/console/radio4fm/?fm

Bargain Hunt's back with a new series, and it looks like the same person's picking their music. Yesterday it was The Only One I Know by The Charlatans, today it was Girls & Boys by Blur, Wild Thing by The Troggs, I Fought The Law by The Clash, Fire by Kasabian and Pinball Wizard by The Who.

I was just coming out of our local supermarket the other day when I saw a poster for The Spencer Davis Group, appearing in the function suite at our local station - Yes, station! That was the good news. The bad news? They're on on 1st November and I'll be at the airport picking Pam up.

Bloody Hell, it's gone quiet again. Just to thank Spence for taking me to The Cavern to see The Small Fakers again! They were brilliant as ever, and Simmo reckons Steve Marriott has been reincarnated. The Universal were great as the support band, and Terry Shaughnessy tells me they've got an album out shortly. I might just keep an eye out for that one, although it may be a bit difficult to get it here in Germany.

That would be Chicken Payback by The Bees. Eltjo would be all over that one because they're from Ventnor.
