i have found a 21 tooth gear cog on a standard p200 7 spring clutch, in a box of spares I have. Before I replace this for a 23 tooth cog, does anyone know why it has been fitted?
i’m guessing it was for T5 4th gear upgrade, but if someone could confirm it would be appreciated. Cheers W

more likely the clutch came off a t5 engine originally ,they had 7 spring units ,or it was fitted to a kitted 125 lump.doubt it was on a p200 ,H

Thanks H, Thought it would be someth8ng like this, the clutch is in very good shape, so I’m going to use most of the parts on my P200 engine rebuild (obviously replacing the attritional parts plates, etc.). Is there any upgrade potential in using the t5 cog, can I use a T5/P125 4th gear and if so what do I need to replace and what are the benefits? Thanks again Chris

i'd say use a t5/p125 4th loose gear as its a common upgrade to p2's ,the 21 tooth clutch centre wont mesh with your p200 65 tooth gear .an if it did would give rubbish ratio's , you shouldnt have any trouble selling it on ,might even be interested in it myself .H

Would I have to match it to a different primary and if so what would I use? I’ve got an old 68t primary would that be any good?

i wouldnt bother trying ,a 21/68 primary wouldnt suit a p200 , nought to 45 in a nanosecond without the front wheel touching tarmac .be "amusing" , an a front tyre would last 20,000 miles. but you'd soon tire off it . H

LML use 7 spring 21 tooth clutches as standard. For a standard PX200 I would leave it as it left the factory 23/65 all day long. If it's kitted if a different kettle of fish
