Could be a lazy starter? Or battery needs recharging/replacing?

Is the carb a standard oil injection, and if yes does it start with lots of white smoke but then clears after a minute or two
If the above is no then forget it. If yes, may have a possible answer, as this was a symptom of my P2 which looks to be cured now

When in doubt, I try the easiest things first, in this case, a new plug, bud.

OK, sounds similar to the wife's then try this.. you need to replace two o-rings within the oil pump, and replace the non return valve within the air box what I think is happening on yours is...Due to a weak/failed o-ring and/or a failing non-return valve, two stroke oil is siphoning into your crank case when the scoot is laid up. Once you have an amount of two stroke sat into your crankcase it makes starting a case of holding your finger on the starter button for a few to many seconds, and then lot's of white smoke on start whilst the two stroke in the crankcase clears the above doesn't happen if you try starting your scoot within a couple of hours as an excessive amount of 2 stroke oil hasn't weeped into the crankcase yet As I said the above is exactly what happened to the wife's P2..and taken quite sometime to find the answer Here's a link you should read with a more detailed explanation - I got all the parts from Scooter Centre, Koln. I guess other shop's sell the same modernvespa.com/forum/topic124633the oil non return valve part numbers are on the above link, and you need a Piaggio standard gasket set for the two o-rings, which also includes the gaskets for the carb, oil pump, and air box which need to come off..maybe a good idea to get a dellorto gasket set and service the carb while you're at it (assuming this hasn't been done for a while).. others have suggested buying a new airbox, which would achieve the same, but at a much higher cost ..I guess it all depends on how comfortable you are as a home mechanic lastly once all back together you'll need to run a tank of 2% premix until the oil pump is primed and starts working again message me if you need any more help

All this make mixing oil in the fuel tank sound very appealing.

hi nsaints and all, i have bitten the bullet and taken out the autolube ,when i decided to have a look at the clutch while i was fiddling about, the two gears that control the autolube were wearing badly ( second time this has happened.). i took the opportunity to clean the carb . i blocked off the hole that the autolube spindle leaves with a beedspeed plug, should i have shut off any other holes?? anyhow . its still taking just as long to start, it turns and turns and then slowly fires into life.it wont kick start for anything , until its been started. any more ideas ? could the engine be filling with petrol not two stroke oil? aaaaaagh!!
