Hello all, Thanks for taking the time to read and look at my video.
My PE has started to rattle. Please have a listen to the video and please let me know what could be the cause. I am hoping small end bearings, but not sure. I can't ride it to a shop and get advice as it's currently unregistered.
The noise is present when ticking over and when revving, but easy to hear when ticking over. The noise stays the same when I pull the clutch in.
The scoot has done about 1000kms from what I was told was an engine rebuild.
Hopefully you can hear the problem and help me out.
cheers

I would like to hear it with the flywheel cover removed, so we could at least eliminate the flywheel rubbing on it, bud. Mij☺

might be something loose and vibrating, had this into my p2 run in, turned out to be a snapped bolt on my spare wheel holder. vibrating that fast it was whistleing.

Yea i'm with kickstart cog - look at the kickstart move when its being revved - tighten the bolt on the kickstart to make sure then pull it up when the engine is running - if the noise disappears then its the cog - unfortunately if it is then its out with the tools to strip the motor.... or a strap on the kicker to hold it up....

The main noise sounds like the usual piston slap. This might be a little better when its fully hot.
I would urgently tighten that kickstart before it is broken and then do a compression test. If it's more that 100 psi, I would then not worry about anything and ride without a care, until it's less than 100 psi.

It just occurred to me why I'm not hearing what others are! My tinnitus! can't get this tablet to play loud enough to overpower the constant ringing in my ears, I need to have the radio or TV on during the day, or it drives me crazy and at night have to sleep with the a radio next to me,playing music as I can't get to sleep for the ringing in my ears!
My Doctor thinks the damage was caused by not using earplugs while riding and wind noise in my motorcycle helmet, with a bit of grinding, cutting and porting thrown in!. I've always tried to use protection (ooh err misses 😉.) When using power tools, but sometimes you think, it's just a wee job, I won't bother, wish I knew what I know now!
Remember years ago, at College, getting told, used engine oil getting on your skin regularly, can give you testicular cancer! and welding something that's been zinc plated gives off cyanide gas! Makes you think, it's not just riding that can be dangerous to our health. Mij☺

bryno,I don't suppose riding in the 1980's from above Edinburgh, behind my mates Armandos 225 special, fitted with a baffleless Pitone exhaust ,for the couple of years he had it , to National Rallies helped much too.😵😉. Along with the lambrettas ,fitted with over the kickstart Fresco exhausts!
