Hi - I have just completed a total rebuild of my MotoVespa - upon maiden run there seems to be a challenge what maybe the fuelling.
The scoter seemed to run well on the work bench and on the first few minutes of the first ride. (when rebuilding the carb was totally cleaned out). After a long mile straight, the engine seemed to falter a bit when slowing down for a roundabout and then when riding away, bogged from about 1/2 throttle to a point where I had to bring her to a halt. Panel off, kicked over first time and seemed to run OK when stationary, pulled away and then slow ride back home however the power was sporadic. The idling screw and fuel/air screw have been checked many times! Spark plug seems about right.
My thoughts?
1) Carb - I need a spare anyway so have ordered a new 24/24 - this should eliminate the potential carb issue one way or another.
2) Fuel hose - put in a new one on the rebuild - check the length and run vs the old one to ensure no fuel delay?
3) Fuel tap - seems OK - if persists, order a new one?
No smoking etc so not the crank seal.
Any other help / advice / prayers most welcome!
Roger

my moneys on the hose ,over-long or kinking ,it must run under the fuel tap lever ,symptoms sound like fuel starvation , worth taking air hose off an seeing that fuel line is a straight run from frame to carb box not looping down .H

Hi - I'll give this a go tomorrow evening - I've actually got the old line which is in pretty good order so will put back on and see what happens. Thank you in advance - fingers crossed!

I agree it is certainly running weak. Just need to work out why.
What jets are in it? And does it have a working autolube?
