Hi My px has delveloped a crunching sound at certain rotations of the back wheel. It happens even when it isnt running. It did do it when rolling back now and again but now it happens in both directions and its contstant I have very limited knowledge bar the basics. I was just hoping for some advice and possible reasons and maybe costing etc Thanks in advance Shane

Shane, as you have a limited knowledge, I would say get someone to physically have a look at it,
Maybe a mate? Local scooter club member?ask on here if anyone stays near you? Or lastly a scooter shop?
It maybe as ironsloth says the bearing gone.
At the very least check your wheel nuts and rear hub nut is tight!
Sorry no idea of shop prices, but the others may have a look for the price of a pint.☺
Let us know how you get on.
Ride safe.
Jim.

Very unlikely to be the bearing.
Probably just the 5 wheel nuts not tight!

Very unlikely to be the bearing. Probably just the 5 wheel nuts not tight! Thanks all who have given advise. the nuts are tight on the wheel and the hub. as strange as it sounds it is like it is grinding on something at a certain point on the rotation and jars a bit I have got it booked in to a local place on monday who said it sounded like the gears to him when I called him. but would that be the case even when it does it when its not in gear or running? I am just a bit worried about handing it over and getting stuffed with a big bill cheers

It's the " crunching" or "grinding" sound that's throwing me, mate, it's all subjective I know.
Wish I stayed near you to have a look at it for you.
If you where more confident mechanically, I would say take the cluch cover of and have a look at the clutch and the rivets on the primary drive.
Good luck with it.
All the best.
Jim.☺

Flush the gear oil out with fresh, and see if there's any metallic crap in it.

Thanks guys. it is quite hard to explain the noise to be honest. i will flush the oil out in the morning and have a look. it's almost like the wheel is jarring/catching on something and it gives off a knock/crunch. at first i thought i was the nuts on the back wheel as it was a close to the sound and feel of when one of the threads of the rear hub of my last px had worn a grove in itself. I will swap my back wheel for the spare and have a look again at everything thanks again for your help. there is not many local decent shops in wakefield

It now sounds like not in neutral properly. Gear selector may be loose inside and the cruciform is catching on a cog. Nothing much to worry about if it is this. If you catch it early enough a gear selector overhaul kit will fix it, otherwise its a complete new selector box. www.sip-scootershop.com/en/products/gearshift+arm+selector+box+_12135800If you are really lucky, then the cruciform shaft has come unscrewed and just needs tightening. Take the selector box off and have a look.
