I'm interested to know what tool/s you are using to port barrel transfers etc?
Anyone tried a Dremel with the right angled fitting? And do you have to cut down the cutting tool to make it fit inside a barrel?
I should add that ,I've never seen 'in the flesh' so to speak, a Dremel fitted with the angled fitting.
I'm thinking about buying a Proxxon 28492 long neck angled drilling/ milling tool, anyone used/ know anything about them?
Cheers.

Surely someone must know if a Dremel with a right angled attachment fits in a vespa barrel, 166? 177? 200?
Thanks for any info.

Has anyone used the kit that the tuning guru, fast frog uses ? It's quite expensive.
Cheers

Cool ya boots mate! - Replies are always slow over Bank Holidays 'cos everyone's out playing down the seaside. (It's Summer on the South coast; maybe less so up your way). I'm only posting so you don't think you're being ignored; truth is, I don't know either (otherwise I'd have said). For the DR177 porting I used a Dremel and a flex extension (ref 225) with standard 3mm tungsten carbide burr assortment; similar to these: www.ebay.co.uk/itm/10-Mix-3mm-6mm-Tungsten-Head-Carbide-Burrs-For-Dremel-Tool-Drill-Carving-/121615209548?hash=item1c50d4d44c:g:3EYAAOSwQTVV-kvlI couldn't find the longer burs in 3mm, only 6mm, which is a shame because Dremel can't take 6mm, and they would have been handy. It had been suggested that a 90 head on the Dremel (ref 575) might help, but I also have doubts about fitting it into smaller diameter cylinders; it looks quite a chunky bit of kit. Even if it fitted down to, and into the port, you probably wouldn't be able to get much of an angle on it, or see what you're doing (for what I may have ahead on me for the angled and radiussed roofs of the Transfers on the Malossi 166 for example). The best way would be to get hold of one to try, but I don't have hardware shops near me and usually have to get stuff like that mail order. You can get an idea from photos, and it looks to me like it would be of limited use:
Also, if it even takes a proper keyless chuck (ref 4486), which I prefer to use, that would take up even more room. I do believe it works on the end of the flex though, so that might help a bit, but the grip isn't as good with those collet & key chucks:
No idea what FastFrog uses; do share...................?
I looked at the Proxxon when you posted before, but I'd rather find a way of using the Dremel, than buying another specific tool. I'd probably have found a solution when I had a job that needed doing later in the year; I'm all Dremelled-out for now.
Edit:
……right then, as you were feeling a bit unloved earlier, and as I had a spare half-hour, here’s my Dremel and my flex handle with a 90° head, drawn to scale, superimposed over my Malossi 166 barrel mods drawing.
– Conclusion: Nah!
I found a dimensioned drawing of the 90° head, which at 63mm wide, without the burr, pretty much confirmed it ain’t worth it for smaller barrels, if at all.

Sime66, cheers for doing that. The rush was because I was getting it bought as a present😀, Went with plan B and got them to buy me a selector box and Carbone rear shock!
Will look for my notes to find fast frogs kit and get back to you, from memory I think it's a French Make. Thanks again. Jim☺

fast-frog , he's on scooterotica isnt he . i use a flexible drive bought at local tip for a quid ,an riffle set n needle file set from machine-mart a tenner. as soon as you get into decent right-angle tools an bits it gets very expensive .more to buy the tools than paying somebody to do the work often ,if only intending to do 1 barrel occasionally a basic dremmel will cope . Yip,I use a dremel copy with flex drive, bench polisher/ grinder with flex drive and an air die grinder for roughing out and Riffler files/ needle files. A cheap old school option is heating ( very carefully) and bending hand files to the desired angle, as old school MX tuners etc, used to.
CC specialty tools on YouTube have some good vids, another expensive option tho.
I love tinkering, so think I'll save up for proxxon as mentioned ( recommended?) on the GSF, saw a Proxxon tool advertised for £75 last year, should have bought it.
All the best. Jim☺

The Dremel right angle will go into a 200 but is difficult to work. There are cheap Chinese Dremel 575 copies that will fit better. I am in the market for a new one too. Think I'll try for the Proxxon as well!

I think some of your links are pneumatic stuff, Jim; have to admit, I haven't followed all the links properly yet this morning, run out of time after these couple of posts I'm doing now.
