Hi everyone, I believe my clutch cable has snapped on my Vespa vbb , I was going to attempt to fix it myself would you advise a complete novice to try this and if I did get it wrong could I do anything majorly wrong ?? Also has anyone got any tips /advice or links I could see before I attempt this . Thanks for your time any help appreciated, cheers Barnsey

If just changing the inner, the hardest part is getting the old inner cable pulled out..

Yeah just the inner, do I have to take the head light out to see where I'm threading it as you can tell a complete novice !!

No the most you might need is to take the clutch lever off the handlebars for a better view but you probably won't even need that. take the old inner out and note the little hole near the clutch lever where the cable threads through the little fitting called the top hat that the outer seats in. Oil your new inner and gently thread it through the top hat. You might have to spin the cable a little bit to ease it through any kinks in the outer or to get it through the ferrule on the end of the outer that is near the clutch. It's straight forward enough, it must be if I can do it

I would chase the old cable out, to make sure it goes through easily, I've always found that pulling an old cable right out makes it more awkward, so I tend to chase the old one out with the new, while greasing it.
