I have just rebuilt my engine after giving it a bearing and gasket overhaul. I had to re shim the gear cluster to lessen the end gap as it was twice the gap as it advised in the haynes manual also replaced the crusiform. Whilst on a test run the engine was runing spot on but the gear change was quite stiff. Is this normal with a new crusiform?

When I upgraded my standard T5 to a 172 and 21T clutch and reassembled it the gear change was very stiff, particularly from 3rd to 2nd. I found by adjusting the clutch a bit more fixed the issue, I also found that by giving the engine a quick rev in between the change helped.
