Hi do any of you chaps in the Leeds/Wakefield area know of anywhere local I can get the pin set pressed out of my forks to powder coat them then get a new pin set pressed in. Also just as a matter of interest are disc and drum forks interchangeable.

Phattanglo,To the best of my knowledge the are, only the later drum forks with the 20mm spindle. They had better be, because I have those EFL type forks sitting in my shed ,next to a complete set of disc forks, that I've not long put new bearings, grease seal etc in, but the spindle is loose in the disc forks, so will be using EFL forks to disc brake in my cutdoon.π

Cheers Jim, that's interesting, purely from an aesthetic point of view I'd like to swap my disc forks for a drum set up in the future as I'm hoping to turn my everyday commuting scoot into a thing of beauty once I'm retired. Did you replace your fork linkage pin set as well.

Phattanglo, I have a complete set of disc forks ( with a 20mm pin that was a very loose fit in it's linkage) and a
complete set of drum forks ( with 20 mm pin) that have a very good link, pin etc) and will be swapping the
disc hub, backplate, etc (everything) onto the drum forks.
So, no I didn't replace the link pin set as well, just used the EFL drum forks and link.
I should also say, in case it's the star disc hub you don't like the look of, LML at one point had a disk front end , that had what looked like
the front hub from a drum model, but used a disc brake, don' t know how easy it would be to get hold of the parts, tho?
Hope that answers your question, if not try me again, mate π
Good luck and I hope you have a a long and great retirement when you retireπππ

Jim was it you telling me about an lml disc hub that looked old school. Or I read it somewhere can't remember now. The only thing I can remember was some issue with the fit being slightly different between the lml and the px spindle. Perhaps I imagined it while counting my millionsπ

I've resurrected this post just in the hope someone can clear up summat that's confusing me even more than I'm usually confused. I've asked about the sip serie pro disc hub before as I'm looking for a more old school look when I rebuild my scoot but retain the disc brake. Something I don't understand on the Sip website is the difference between the serie pro and the std lml hub which looks identical and indicates is compatible with the vespa forks. The main thing I don't understand is the whopping price difference 90 odd squid v 140 odd squid, especially as the serie pro states it is a modified lml hub. What's that all about? And more important, what is the modification?π€

Sorry mate, I don't know what the modification is, maybe try emailing Sip? Not sure how good they are at answering emails tho.
Good luck.
