Evening folks, I fitted a Piaggio 150 Cylinder/Piston/Head to my PX125 2014 that has a SIP 2.0 on Saturday. Fitting went well, and all nuts tightened to Haynes Spec.
I had to increase idle speed significantly and found the 105 MJ felt too rich when riding, I went down to a 102 which made ride a bit smoother. I adjusted air/fuel mix to smoothest running speed & suspect I can reduce idle a bit as sounds too fast at idle. Idle jet is 45/140 & air filter has 7&5mm holes above jets.
The SIP 2.0 is leaking at cylinder outlet so I ordered a flange/gasket to fit....
My question is.... I am severe/profoundly deaf and wear two hearing aids. When I listen to the engine & feel it it doesn't sound 100% to me... I know the exhaust is leaking and fingers crossed that is causing the noise...
Have I missed anything? There are no leaks around cylinder body or head. It certainly feels more torque on hills etc and I am only riding gently to run in below "80% throttle which I plan to do for at least the 800km recommended in Piaggio handbook.
So gents please lend me your ears and tell me what you think....
Many thanks,
RWS

sounded fine to me , the sip road's a slightly noisier pipe than stock ,an also your new cylinder will sound/feel different to your old 1.its always a nervous few miles til you get use to the sound an feel of a changed engine ,H
if its got wheels n makes a noise I wanna play with it, skateboards included coz "skate-punks rule",
What you are feeling at lower rpm is similar to the issue I had with my Tourer. Running too rich as the MJ stack comes online. This is beacuse the 150 is pulling harder on the carb.
The PX150 uses pretty much nearly the same everything as the PX125..... except the jetting. Right now it will be too rich at low throttle and too weak at wide open.
You will need all new jets, my guess would be BE3, AC160, 45/160 & 116MJ
Probably ok at the moment as you will be running it in but you should get that main jet bigger, as soon as possible!

Plug is way to rich at low/mid throttle, as you susspected by the feel of it.
Don't forget the pilot jet. You will need a 45/160.
The AC160 will help but really needs the BE3 to work, as the air from the AC160 goes through the BE3 to get into the engine. The BE4 has fewer holes and will block the extra air flow.
See how you get on with the a 116MJ. This will at least make it safe.

Thanks PXGURU.... managed to pop into Scooter Works & got a BE3 & 116MJ. I have a 45/140 IJ too, couldn't get 45/160.
I fitted it all and it started on half choke on third turn of starter motor. This is it running with choke in and gentle revs to get warm enough to idle... will adjust mix screw when properly warm and turn idle down a bit too.
Looking forward to run home in an hour or so. Hopefully exhaust flange/gasket arrives and I can fit it tomorrow to stop exhaust leak.

Wocha PXGuru, well that was an interesting ride home. I rode away from work and it wouldn't accelerate past 1/4-1/3 throttle. I managed to get up to 30mph in central London through torque and low throttle then tried the A40 - 40mph but could only utilize the 150 torque on 1/4-1/3 throttle to eventually get there.
I pulled over at a garage by the Ace Cafe and put a 105MJ back in then adjusted fuel mix screw & reduced the idle speed which transformed the ride to a better, smoother more responsive ride & I could feel the torque like a pair of 20lb lead balls between my legs!
I reckon the: 45/140 IJ, AC60, & BE3 Smoothed out the low/mid throttle riding but the 116 was drowning engine as when I opened throttle over 1/3 it felt like I was applying ABS brakes.
Came home to find the Exhaust Gaskets arrived so I'll fit them and see what happens.
Out of interest, what MPG do you get from your 200 tourer mate?
I went from 80mpg down to 50mpg.... hope new jetting & gasket level out around 70mpg!
All the best,

One thing that ride home does prove is that if the bottom end is too lean its not too much.
It is sure that it can't take the 116 but I am not sure that the 105 is enough, 107 or 110 should be. This needs to be correct before riding it too much more. It's obviously not that far out or you wouldn't have got home without a heat sieze.
You will need to do this again when you have finished but to be sure its safe ok for now, while running in, you need to do two plug chops.
To check the pilot jet is ok, ride at just under 1/4 trottle in 3rd gear for a mile or so, then stop and check the plug colour. To check the BE3 is ok, ride at just 1/2 trottle in 3rd gear for a few miles, then stop and check the plug colour.
All set up right the fuel consumtion should be similar to before for riding at the same speed.
I havent checked mine yet. Just ride it till its empty then refil. Certainly way more economical than the Polossi 221
