Warned you, time for a question my scooters fitted with a starter motor, but not working at the moment put a live feed on it and it does work, starts the scooter fine replaced starter motor relay, and made no difference removed battery cover and found a group of 4wires,on looking at diagrams, they are for a Vespa - Starter Safety Interlock Unit - PX Electric Start as these wires seem to have been cut off, would this be the problem,if so can I by pass them, cost about £45 . Don't want to spend that and find it makes no difference,so can I by pass it,and if that's the prob then replace it cheers in advance Gary

Welcome, Gary – (as long as you’re not Gary the Postman in Glasgow!) It seems that the interlock can be bypassed by connecting the pink from the starter relay to the pink on the clutch safety switch. – Are two of the wires pink, or one pink and one red/white? The others should be a grey (live) and black (ground), which should be wrapped-up separately, but can be left there. I’m not familiar with any new-fangled electric start stuff, but it looks simple to bypass the Starter Safety Interlock Unit by connecting the Starter Relay straight to the Clutch Safety Switch. If not, I’m pretty sure I have one in a box of bits somewhere, but looks like an extra thing to go wrong that ought to be hoiked-out, especially as the jobs half-done already. BTW – may I recommend the kick-start……………….

Just had a look at the wires Group of 4 been cut from ?? They are Green thin black stripe Brown thin white stripe Grey thin white stripe Yellow thin purple or lilac stripe Don't see anywhere they can go to,so something's been removed Thought it might be that, but colours don't seem to match

I thought it was odd when you said under battery cover; I think that Interlink would live under the horncover anyway. I see nothing that matches that group of colours, but If you have an older p200e with a newer PX125 elec start engine, you might have a bit of a one-off wiring arrangement, so lets have as much, accurate info as you can give. Lets start from scratch; Make, model, year of scooter AND engine? Exactly where are these cut-off wires? Can you take a picture? Any idea where any of them are coming from or going to?
In the meantime, I'll dig out a wiring diagram for a p200 to see if those colours make any sense.............

Vespa Douglas P200e does say elecrostart on the glovebox Year registered 1/9/1997 drum brake model Has a 125 engine fitted 166 kit The 4 wires were hiding behind the battery holder (removed 4 bolts then seen it) They are wrapped together the way they should be,not just botched together They have been nicely cut . They were not taped or covered in any way,all ends showing, As for pictures,,,,,need to wait till the daughter comes over lol
