Hi everyone, hoping someone can help I've just ordered a rear 4in1 rack for my scooter (it's not come yet ) but while waiting I thought I would try and remove the seat spike ready , I thought even I could do that but no luck it just seems to twist around and round . Is it meant to be just screwed in or is there a knack to this , anyone had a similar problem in the past . I'm probably just being stupid!! (Scooter is a Vespa vbb) thanks for your time

There should be a nut on the other side, accessed from under the scoot above the rear wheel. you're just spinning the nut and the bolt(spike)at the same time.

Thanks for replying, I've already looked there as that is what I thought but there doesn't seem to be a nut there , do you think the fuel tank would have to come out ?? , cheers

I think you're right, tank out. I was hopeful it would be the easier of the two. Sorry I wasn't much help.

I took mine off yest (px we talking about i take it)..screwed straight out and back in without removing the tank...shouldnt the nut be held captive so it cant spin?..mine seems too be..if you have a extra pair of hands too hold the tank you should just have enough room (maybe) too get a spanner in without disconecting too much..GL LOON-E

vbb's the seat post screws into a m7 captive nut behind the tank .if this is spinning or threads been trashed an replaced with a nut i'm afraid its tank out to get to it .an its one of those jobs ,like top shock bolt ,were you can see it an touch it ,but not at the same time .space is a bit tight ,if theres a circus in town go see if theve a double jointed midget to do it for ya ,shouldnt cost much . Don't think the VBB has the captive nut set up, nut is accessed from the back of the frame by sticking your hand up behind the back wheel, use a small socket wrench and a long extension bar, the nut will be 12 or 13mm. Same set up as a Rally/Super/Sprint etc. removing the tank doesnt give you access to the offending nut IIRC.

bryno's right about the position ,my memory was wrong , its at top of wheel well. but both my vbb's had captive nuts ,my super is also captive but thats a later alteration . H

My VBA & VBB didn't, nor does my Rally wish they did its a right pain of a knuckle scraper getting the nut off!
