I want to replace the speedo frame/rim on my scooter, and I like this one, but the spiel below the image has thrown me. If google is to be believed, the 'rainbow' PX was introduced in 1983, and mine is an 84 PX125E. The VIN (VNX2T) matches, but there's no rainbow badge on mine. Does that mean this particular rim is unsuitable? Cheers

This was a long time ago but like it was yesterday. This is how I remember, it took a few years for the P125X to change into the PX125E from late 1982 to 1985. There were all sorts of combinations of left over older parts and newer parts all mixed up. I think as far as Piaggio were concerned it was called an E if it didn't have points and now had a CDI and autolube. All the other changes, brick seat, panel locks, autolube, fuel gauge, 20mm front axle, suitcase toolbox, plastic floor centre, real actual working locks, etc. all seem to come and go for a short time until the Rainbow concept was finished.
If yours is an 84 E with a fuel gauge, then it will be a Rainbow. Keep me posted on what parts you use, I need to do the same job on my tourer speedo. Rim is knackered too.

It does have a fuel gauge (wildly unreliable!!), so we'll go with it being the Rainbow. I'll let you know how I get on with the Pascoli rim. Cheers

guru, didn't go with the Pascoli rim in the end, postage was more than the part!! Picked a chrome one up, with replacement 'lens' included, from Beedspeed for £13 delivered and popped it on this morning. Nice fit and looks much tidier than the old, rusted one
