Not such a simple question. Is it in good condition otherwise? How many miles it done? How long did it run with the metal in?
A decent, non twisted crank from an engine that just blew up and stopped, should clean up ok and run for ages but you will be taking a chance on the big end bearing.

as pxguru says , not really a answerable question by forum ,its a "judgement" call .with the crank in my hands after washing does the rod move very smoothly .any tight spots/grinding or noise its scrap,is there any play with rod extended up an down, new big-end needed .side to side movement excessive needs new thrust washers which is a crank split n re-balance job . all stuff that only experience an crank in my hands can tell,i'd probably wash an use if it seemed ok , H.

It does seem to turn smooth but I'm 100 sure metal has got into the bearings, I'm sure it will wash out ok but a sensible person would change it I suppose I should change it as I'm changing all bearings really don't want to change them again
Is it possible to split the Conrod and change the bearings?
Or what crank should I buy?
Thanks

on a stock crank its a roller bearing ,so its a split an replace conrod/bearing job ,or split clean an re-balance . not much cheaper than new . tameni's are good make for stock cranks , now called mercuer i think.most use mazzechelli cranks , a bearing an conrod kit are around £50, mazz crank £100 ,tameni £120 an piaggio £150. mazz are sold as "race" cranks to get round german tuv legislation ,but also means any problems an they wont help. tameni are OEM an sold for road use . H should of read Mec Eur for crank name , cant wake up today.
