Any thoughts welcome .thankyou! i did, put a spaco one on an old delorto carb a while ago, ended up changing the carb though, recently found out that spaco and delorto carbs have different mixture screw settings, what size of carb?

my 2002 px is also 2020 delorto and says spaco too,it has the fine thread brass hex head mixture screw and i queried the turns for the correct mix for this.since your mentioning about lean mix it might be worth a look down the page a bit you'll see my recent thread. i'm pretty useless too but learning with these guys Thanks to Henri who provided the right settings.

Slides for an Si20/20 are smaller than slides for Si24 – see my photo with Si20 slide on right; the details are here: www.sip-scootershop.com/files/catalogue/index.html#/247I did an investigation and complete list about six months ago, back in my ‘brief build’ mega-thread if either of you can be bothered to look back for it, which I can’t at present, but might remember later. I have an 07 slide for a 20/20, which is flat on the underside, (see photo) which I think is what you chaps are talking about, to overcome the modern Euro-spec leaning slide cut-outs; I’ll swap it for your Si24 slide, Doulsy, if you can say what number it is that you have (stamped on it) and show it’s condition. I’ve probably got others too, but I’d have to dismantle some 20/20 carbs to see what’s in them. 24s are slightly more expensive, but I’m not fannying about over a few pence; PM me if you either of you want it; I can probably find another if you both do, otherwise first to respond. Si24/24 (04) on left, Si 20/20 (07) on right:

i think i'd try the air holes in the filter trick first messing with slides can be a pain, re-jetting etc and maybe another pipe, bgm bigbox/sip road (if you haven't already) The slide above on the left is a number 5 - one of which I've tried on my set up and I may try again soon. It gave very good acceleration from take off. I didn't record what it was like at WOT. Stock 24 carbs come with a number 4, with lots of cut aways.

They're talking about 20/20 carbs on modern PXs. I got that No5 (on the left), off Ebay to maybe try in The Beast (26/26) at some stage to richen a mid-range (5,000rpm from memory) hot spot, I developed after I’d drilled the BE3 to deal with a low-range (3,000ish) flat spot. I also have a No4 in at present, which will be fine if I leave the BE3 alone now, but that isn’t the point here, and I think too much of that detail will confuse the issue here, which is the size of the slide. The No7 next to it in the photo is also without cut-outs, but for smaller 20/20 carbs, which is what I think these two chaps are trying to work out – that they’re different sizes. There are two sizes of Si slide: 24mmx42mm = Si 20 (and others 20.15, 20.17) 27mmx43mm = Si 24 & 26 (E and G) …as I found out when I looked into it before, and recorded my findings here: vespa.proboards.com/thread/5222/brief-build-update?page=20I’m not sure what you mean about air holes in the filter; I think these chaps are talking about reducing air, by getting rid of the Euro-emissions slide on a new PX, not adding air. (See scooterbooter’s original post) Pockets add air (lean the mix), on a No5 (T5) slide theres a Progression Pocket, which must lean-out low-revs Progression (good low acceleration - as you found?), but the flat underside richens the mid-range when compared to No4. As an alternative to using the flat No5, I tried blocking the oval hole, which these chaps might want to try, but they haven’t got the option of a No5; they would need something like the No7, which I dug out of one of my 20/20 carbs to use before I realised it was smaller. The No7 on the right in the photo seems to me to be the 20/20 equivalent of the No5 if you’re trying to do away with the cut-outs. (See Doulsy’s last post).

Ok. I was thinking that these 'restrictions' to meet emission tests also hold back performance too. Hence suggesting a few mods, re-jet etc. But yeh, no doubt the slide is a good thing to change
Which ever the correct slide for the old style px would richen it up a little yes. (I'm not sure what this off the top of my head) It's the air pockets on top that are the main culprits.
I see there are now the old style Rally slides available, although for 24mm, calling it a 4.2. No pockets anywhere, just the correct progression notch in the corner. That's on my shopping list.
They probably do these slides for 20mm too if they are not available as a stock part already.
