Fuel tap only works in the reserve position, great fun with the dodgy LML fuel gauge. Scoot just cuts out in the on position Ran out this morning, luckily not too far from the petrol station. If I leave it overnight on reserve the exhaust fills up with fuel New fuel tap needed ?

You can try to clean the fuel tap out, but they're fiddly things. I'd just replace it. you probably need a new float needle too.

I've just looked on allstyles and they list an on or off fuel tap for vespas with a fuel gauge, maybe that's whats in mine ? Think I'd rather have the option of reserve for piece of mind

On a tap for models with fuel gauge, where you think is Reserve is actually Open, and where you think is Open is actually Closed. I think you have a modern tap so have just open and closed, and when you leave it overnight where you think is Reserve it's actually Open. This suggests float punctured/sticking or needle in carb is leaking, but you should leave it closed anyway. I think this diagram below will explain it clearer than words: (I reckon your tap is OK if used correctly, and your carb needs a bit of a check-up)

Thanks for that info Sime , that's great and explains exactly why my tap doesn't work in the on position - its actually the off position! Cheers
