Hi, I'm replacing the flywheel oil seal on a 1974 125 GTR, there are 2 replacement types available, one has a square cut out and the other has a round cut out. Does anyone know/understand the difference and if there is an effect from fitting the wrong type? Thanks in advance for any advice.

is it something to do with the feed for the oil/fuel...look closely and they maybe a small hole in the crank cases for lubricating the bearings, which when you go to fit the seal (and bearing) make sure it does not block the hole...

early engines had a round cut out ,later a square one . they are interchangeable so it doesnt really matter what ya get .but i'd advise the blue corteco's over other seals at the moment. only important thing is when fitting the cut out has to be at the 12 o'clock position so the bearing oil feed hole isnt covered at all .an its best practice to put them in with a smear of bearing locker too .H
