I have juddering when braking, so myself and a mate attempted to tighten the top bearing on the forks.Only to find the top locking nut wouldn't move (undo or do up)So I've got new locking nuts and bearing and the plan was to heat up the old and replace. But my mate said you know we could be opening a can of worms if the old locking nut has been cross threaded your screwed, leave it alone unless it fails mot in june.Am I right if its crossed threaded its new forks.?

it could be or it might be able to be cleaned up , its like ya mate said a can of worms . dont worry tho , its a sprint , separate spring an damper set up , same as my super n rally forks . let me guess ,you apply the front brake an headset dives n judders like a epileptic in a disco when they turn on the strobe light .amazingly/funnily thats normal ,they all do it to some extent ,it wont show on the mot brake test .when riding i always ease on the rear brake 1st an that settles the scoot on its springs an lessens the dive/judder at front .its part of there "old-world charm" . if wanting to check head bearings still ,get scoot on centre stand an with 1 hand on headset n 1 at fork bottom/link try n rock the leg in the straight ahead position .should be no play ,then move bars from lock to lock ,no tight spots or notchiness an ya good to go . i do try n please/entertain my audience ,i'm told its part of my charm, cant see it myself . an ya think a sprints bad ,try some old-skool girder forks with worn friction dampers/pivots , they will break bones n stretch ligaments . mine judders like the former strobed epelectic an my mot-ers fine with it ,it dont show on a brake roller . dangers a perception issue , if i ride my rally forks like there px 1's or disc brake bike forks ,i'm toast . same as drivin the managements drum brake no-servo car like my dads disc brake/servo euro-box=up the fundament of 1st guy to stop in front of me . bit of forward thinkin ,dont ride on guy in fronts brake lights ,but the cars 3-5 in front an there safe as houses . ride on the guys with disc brakes lights in front off ya ,an you'll soon become better friends than total strangers should be,unless thats "your fing".who am i too judge . you aint going to set a speed record , so sit back, an enjoy the journey n not just the destination , take the "less travelled road" ,stop n smell the weeds on the verge ,grab a ice-cream . thats what scoots can do for ya .adds years to ya life .
