my scoot seems to be running to fast and when i turn the idling adjuster nothing happens to slow it down but when i turn the other way it does speed up, reckon i could take the thing right out and the engine would still be racing away. thats just no right. could that be linked to me running with the choke out as mentioned in my previous post. checked the sparkplug and thats fine. anybody any ideas.

The throttle cable may be too tight and holding it open when you close down. Try slackening off the adjuster on the carb casing a turn or so, they set the tickover again..

its a brand new px to mate hud nothing but bother with it since i got it just not running rite at all. its going back into the place where i got it on monday for the 2nd time, first time it was revving its head off without me touching the throttle, driving away on its own like cruise control. . guy said it was a loose wire sticking the throttle cable, now this. i'll get it sorted, its under warrenty like but it is annoying. got 2 scoots and neither are going well. but my T5 has got an excuse its an R reg, still runs better than the px mind.

Yeh, if its under warrenty, let the dealer sort it, should be easy enough to sort, clearly it's just not been set up right..

I had similar trouble on my Sprint after replacing a snapped throttle cable. As Bryn says, it's probably just a case of tweaking the cable adjuster by the carb, but on a brand new scooter that's for your dealer to get his hands dirty doing.

last time it was in, after i picked it up, bout 10 Min's into the journey while sitting at lights where it started to idle dead slow then cut out, when i got to my work i adjusted it to run faster which it did ,but it seemed to be be running to fast after that but wont adjust down. its at the dealers as we speak. hope they get it sorted out cos i don't want my dream scoot turning into a nightmare.

It will be a simple fix, if the tickover is erratic just much they will need to tweak the mixture screw a bit, easy enough

got the scoot back today and it seems to be running fine now thankfully. mechanic at the scoot shop was blaming the fact that cos the carb was made in india, this had something to do with the problem. anyway whatever he done seems to have worked.
