hi, i have a 3 speed vbb and have managed to source a (rather rank) 4 speed engine. what is involved with swapping the gears?? is it a staight swap?? cheers for any help. dj

Sure this was asked not long ago...
Yes it's easy, just swap over the entire axel asembly with the cogs, and to keep it simple use the VBB pushrod/cruciform. Also need the cush drive Xmas tree and the selector box from the VBB, bar end is also interchangeable between VBA and VBB if you want 4 speed on the grip.
VBB 4th is same as VBA 3rd I believe, so it won't go any quicker, but does make it a nicer ride.

as above ,but whilst there stick a new cruciform in . if engines rank on outside i'd bet the cruccys shagged . an whilst lumps apart theres other little bits worth replacing like kickstart rebound rubbers ,etc. careful tho its easy to get drawn into a full strip/seals/bearings/re-build .but would have a "good as new" engine at end .H
