Can anyone help - I have a 1976 150 Super that I have rebuilt. Every time I put in a new worm drive for the speedo, the axle breaks the plastic teeth off. any ideas? cheers

got the same thing myself on my 76 super , is it on 8" wheels or 10" , as the drives have different numbers of teeth aswell as axles having different numbers . unless there the right combination the axle will chew up the worm. tho saying that mine are right an it still chews drives ,speedo's recorded 3 miles from 3 drives in last 2 years .have tried loads to get it right an given up n learnt to ignore speedo. Aha, that's maybe why my speedo is a mile and a half out too on my Super, I changed it to 10" wheels and didn't think about the drive.... !

Sorry, didn't mean to hijack the thread, but Henri, are there different drives for KPH speedos as well as 8 and 10 inch wheels, do you know?

no ,the kph n miles is just on the dial ,the drives n axles are calibrated to 8 or 10" , bout 3-5% difference in under reading , so careful round speed cameras eh H
