3rd time this has happened!!!!!... :x :x :x   This last time was 11 miles in to a 65 mile run to a rally & bumbling along about 40mph
.Flywheel side bearing race has tried to work its way off the crank, resulting in the bearing collapsing and the needle rollers jamming the crank...After the last time i had the crank checked for twisting and was ok..used genuine Vespa bearings and loctite on the race and had the crank and bearings refitted by a trusted local scooter tech. Local scooter bods not heard of this happening before ...Any ideas why ? or solutions to the problem would be gratefully accepted . HB fettled P200crank running with a HB stage 4 barrel , head & piston.
Cheers m'dears

i'm taking it to mean the inner race is moving outwards pushing the seal , weird one , as its 3rd time think we can rule out a bad bearing , an its a harry barlow crank , he's a good rep , so unless he gave the tea boy a go n he fecked it up ,should be able to rule crank out , the thrust of clutch moves crank over that way but that would push race onto it not off if it was moving it , only thing i can think is to get crank checked for size n ovality ,as the inner race is a tight interference fit an if loctited aswell should be on for good , might be time for the hb crank to become 1 more interesting paperweight/garden cat deterrent, just had 1 thought ,"genuine piaggio bearings" ,there SKF in a piaggio box , got nothin against SKF ,use em myself on stock motors , but i think if crank pin checks out ,would re-build with sip/koyo heavy duty bearings on a stage 4 , or ask HB tuning what they reckon/recommend . Id say the crank is the culprit too. Especially if you need to loctite the inner race!

Thank you both , think I may do a full rebuild & return to standard everything but use upgraded bearings . Mick

still circuling up here ,to sweeten the pot i have a stock p200 barrel/head/piston n rings , an crank ,was goin to use crank but if my hands fell on a harry barlow barrel ,well that crys out for a long stroker crank ,so my stock 1's surplus to requirements , just a idle thought as i sip a sherry waiting for my tea , straight swap ,your barrel/head/piston versus my crank/barrel/piston n rings/n head , each pays there own postage ,H

I take it the engine casings are a matching pair? And the oil hole between the crankcase and the outside of the flywheel main bearing is not blocked or covered?
