What benefits would I get from one of these clutches? Would a 23 tooth be too much for a 177 kit, should I go for a 21 or a 22 tooth clutch on a px125e?cheers

on a stock 125 a 21 is best ,will just pull a 22 for longer legs but lose acceleration , with a 177 a 22 is a nice upgrade ,a 23 maybe a step too far ,depends on the pipe your running an its power band . the 23 will exaggerate the jump between 3rd n 4th ,prob be fine on the flat with thrashing in 3rd but a incline will mean you might not pull 4th,as you wont get back "on the pipe" /into the power band . the biggest advantage of a cosa clutch is there a lot easier on the hand/wrist than the older type, makes town riding less painful an long journeys less tiring . Hi Guys Also need help concerning cosa clutch, have tried posting before but think its on wrong part of sight. Can I Fit a cosa clutch to a standard 68 sprint 150 Have already fitted dog leg levers new cable, plates, shims, bush, oil seals including clutch arm but clutch is still to hard. (sorry should have said have injury to hand and can not put much pressure on it ) have tried a scoot with cosa clutch and they are so light. Love the old vespa so no chance of selling for newer model. Any help will be appreciated. B

i think you can ,will probably need relieving/dremmeling on inside of clutch cover to stop rubbing/binding , have you thought about lengthening the clutch arm a tad to get extra leverage ,it wears clutch cables faster as they no longer run straight from adjuster to arm end but has been done before , i think it might of been kru251 on here did something similar , H

Hi Kidda,
i am running a 22 tooth on a DR180 kit and found this is a happy compromise. still get decent acceleration and gives me better cruising speed, may have lost a little pull on inclines but not much, as henri says a 23 may be too much especially on an up slope.

If your using standard 125 gearing you can't use a 23 tooth anyway it will not work with the 68 tooth primary gear. Can only use 21/22 tooth clutch . 23 tooth was made for the p200 gearing which has a 65 tooth primary . Trust me I've paid out and brought the 23 tooth and found out the hard way before doing my research

Kidda, What do you want it to do? Go as fast as possible or cruise along at 60mph all day long? a 21/68 will do 80mph if you know how to get it to rev to 8,500 rpm!

I'm in the process of rebuilding again because was'nt entirely happy with it after a mild heat sieze and was thinking of changing the clutch to a different one and was just wondering what the benifits are of a cosa clutch,I've already got a 21T,dropped the engine out so will start messing with it this week, cheers for all the info folks
