Hi, I bought my first Vespa a few weeks back, a 1988 px125 frame with logbook. I then bought a engine but have now realised its out of a PK125 instead of a PX125, I wondered if it will still fit?
Cheers ian

Hey Ian, how's it going, welcome to the world of Vespa! I have two rebuilds under my belt now, but still a newbie really, a lot of great help to be had from the guys on here though, as for your engine, I think I am right in saying the PK motor is a smallframe engine, which won't fit, or at least not easily! However, I am sure one of the guys over there will know someone who can either swap, or buy your motor, and put you in the direction of a PX motor which is what you need, there is a lot of info online, scooterhelp is a good site, and as I say, the lads on here are great, and will help to steer you in the right direction! Best of luck, let us know how it goes!

not easily , it can be done but is loads of work, only person i know doing it is a very experienced tuner who like me the words "couldnt, shouldnt, cant " are just encouragment . your best bet is to re-sell the pk engine an look around for a px engine ,or any other large frame lump, a px would be best , for selling the pk "vespasmallframe forum" or the facebook smallframe pages , you might not get as much money as from e bay but def will get less time wasters /non-payers . there is another way tho, a px lump will cost double a pk 1 , but a pk frame will cost less than what your px 1 would sell for , maybe come join the smallframe community , there fun, extremely tunable an pk's are cheaper to play with than px's .just a thought , H

an a custom exhaust an inlet manifold ,on smallies the carbs under the seat an exhausts at rear of cylinder , rear suspension lines up fine ,but you either need turned up tophat spacers or to weld on some big washers to frame ,as larges are m14 main bolt an smalls m10 , an a longer m10 high tensile main bolt aswell, an maybe re-routed/custom cables coz everythings in different places ,well carb n gear selecter are , it can be done ,i know somebody sticking a 25bhp pk lump into a cut-down px chop frame , but he's like me "awkward" , H

he's a legend in the smallframe bits , goes by the moniker "johhnysnatchsniffer" , "he loves a bit of snatch" ,an his status reads "ringleader of the tormenters" , dont be put off he's a seriously nice guy who really knows his onions ,probably wont talk to me know ive outed him as a pk/px torturer .its usually other way px lump into smallie an is generally frowned upon , i havent any piccys of it , should of really as its matt-black blackboard paint an his daughter had graffitied in chalk, hilarious .if he's still talkin to me i'll get 1 nxt time i visit ,i'm pickin his brain on polini evo's as he's gettin 30+bhp from a 130cc , mental stuff . whilst ya thinkin on it ,a pk lump has bout 6-7 bhp stock , would make a very slow px , a standard 12bhp polini kits bout 150 , another 200 for pipe n carb to make it fly ,an the lump would need to be a 3stud inlet large taper crank 1 or it will twist up in a heartbeat, H
