Can anybody give advice on removing the collar from the crank in my p200 whilst the crank is still in the engine? I have tried to cut groove in the old one and tap with a chisel but it wont budge.
Cheers

2 grooves an a bearing splitter ,bout 16 quid on fleabay or machine mart , 2 grooves gives it something to bite into n hold an lessens the chance of scratching the crank as bearings pulled of if there fitted in the 1mm gap between the crank web n collar , that n heat , the puller has 2 m12 threaded holes to fit a stud or bolt in ,some dont go through an need a drilled bar an 2 lengths of threaded bar n nuts to push on end of crank n draw the bearing off , machine mart want bout 30 quid for that ,but its a easy make at home bit, the 1's with holes right through are so puller can be cranked up by putting 2 bolts thru to bear on cases behind ,but i wouldnt advise that on vesp cases , otherwise more careful dremmeling to the groove ,an then another groove 180 degrees round the crank ,an a sharp cold chisel ,not direct at crank but obliquely /at 90 degrees/right angle to it ,or as angled as ya can get chisel to bite at . its one off those deep breath an confidence jobs , 1 big wallop is less likely to damage than loads of half hearted taps . H, If I used a blow torch on the bearing would this damage the crank itself?

not unless ya really blasting for hours , the bearing will lose its hardness but you'd have to get the collar cherry red n keep it that way for ages for the heat to transfer to crank enough to hurt it , cut deep in the collar ,an finish by hand with a junior hacksaw blade or needle file ,any scratches on the crank wont effect the new bearing being vseated so long as theres no burrs left , give it a blast of heat , pray to any gods you have an hit it hard n definite ,let out the deep breath an wonder what it was you was worrying over , but dont pick up old collar to look at/launch down the garden , thats a serious "ouchy" ,trust me ive the lack of fingerprints to prove it .
