hi guys ok heres the latest update got the engine back the only original part now is the gearbox, everything else has been renewed even the casings, engine is back in the scoot and I still have the same problem she wont go over 60kph (35mph)aarrrgghhh. she's now totaly original, exhaust, 20/20 carb, 150 3port engine 160/be3/100 any ideas? has to be jetting and mixture. also very strange think happened when out testing it, pulled over and she started revving flat out in neutral like the throttle had jammed open all by her self, pressed the cutout she kept going, pulled the ht lead she kept running, pulled every wire to the cdi she kept running, had to remove the plug to get her to stop.

weird one , not revving out can be too retarded timing ,but running on like that is usually very lean mix from a air leak .sucking air in under carb/carb box /case joint or seals .what state was the plug in on removal ,white an overheated .could of got so hot it acted like a glow plug an was igniting fuel without a spark ,the other suspect for running on is a bit of carbon glowing on the piston crown . Has the engine been completely replaced with another (both new casings?) and it still has the exact same problem? Now that's unlucky!
The engine not switching off is due to a massive air leak. Some call this dieseling and very weak mixture heats up the spark plug to work like a glow plug. This is not doing your engine any favours. Be sure to bin the spark plug every time this happens.
It has to be one of the following, carb/crankcase gasket leaking, clutch seal split, piston upside down..... You are looking for a big problem. Sometimes its so big you cant see it!
Edit; If it carries on running while switched off again, just put it in gear and stall it. Stops pretty quick then!

cheers guru only happened once been ok since. yes both casings are new engine was rebuilt by a friend that knows what he's doing still think it has to be jets/mixture/timing

Forgetting what looks like an air leak. If a 150 engine won't go over 30mph it is not a tweek you are looking for. Something is really way out. You're going to kick yourself when you find it!

And there it is. That will do it.
Read one of the many threads on crankcase pressure testing for when it goes back together. There are often issues like yours.

its a easy 1 to do ,to catch a seal with crank lip n tear it .least ya know the problem now ,half the battle . H

latest update scoot now MOTed and got my V5 so she's all legal. still messing about with jetting have tried a main 102, then plug chopped, pug was white so up jetted to a 108,110,112 plug still white made no difference to plug or performance but a 112 seems very big for a standard 3port 150 sprint veloce

youve got to be sucking air somewhere ,at 112 it should be bogged down an drowning .does pulling the choke on at high revs make any difference ,it should bogg it down . H

engine running an easy start or brake cleaner ,spray it on suspect areas avoiding exhaust .when revs jump up youve found were its sucking .then fairy liquid ,same but its when it bubbles youve found a "blow" .other than that its a visual inspection ,if heads or barrel base blowing or fly seal there will be oil staining were its gone .an whilst its running put ya hand over the end of exhaust ,if it dont die straight away ya clutch sides blowing into the gearbox .H

hi guys not had time to get out on the scoot for a while did a 70 mile ride out two weeks ago scoot made it there and back didnt miss a beat but still not getting full speed out of the scoot. dies everytime it comes to a slight uphill climb then only gets to 45mph on the downhill apart from one small hill where it suddenly went up the 55mph untill i had to slow it down. have just tried blocking the exhaust and the engine keeps running guess this means i have an air leak??
