I need to temporarily remove this so I can take the back rack off my scoot. At the moment the cable is over the top of the rack.
The problem is that when I unscrew the top of the sender with a some pliers I can't then get it out. The float and float arm are too wide together to pull out of the hole.
Any ideas? Do you have to somehow disconnect the float arm? Wouldn't fancy that!
If you're wondering how I got the wire over it in the first place ... I didn't! It must have been done like that when I had some work done a while ago and the engine was taken out.

hi
you wont be able to get it out in one piece. what you should do, is remove the arm that holds the float. just be careful not to drop things in the tank..

Just done it now ... is a hell of a lot easier when there is a bit of daylight! Tried it last time with the pitch black and a power-torch for company ;D Oh for a garage eh.
The arm removed easier that I thought it would, just unclips and then slides out. Ta Rudi.
Finally happy with the look of my scoot now, is looking a lot sleeker and consequently classier. Jobs a good 'n.

Surely it just unplugs from under the cap? My T5 certainly does.

It unplugs under the cap .... but then you can't get it out all the way because the float and float arm together are wider than the hole. Removing the float arm was pretty easy though, just looked a bit daunting to a novice in the dark first time round

What i meant was this, under the black plastic cap that covers the sender unit, you can see the wires going into the sender via a grey, triangular fitting directly on top of the unit. This is a plug and can just be pulled off leaving the wires free to do what you fancy with them. To reconnect you just plug it back in. No need to remove the sender unit at all, just unplug, remove back rest and plug back in. If yours doesn't unplug, my apologies. My PX used to be the same and I just assumed all were similar. I have checked and my LML hasn't got a sender as it has a reserve.

Oh right, I see what you mean.
Not sure, it didn't look like it does at first glance but you are probably right. I'll have a proper butchers over the weekend. Cheers.
