My son has recently bought a PX125, he loves it to bits and it runs brilliantly when the weathers dry , but , as soon as it gets onto wet roads or it starts raining, it packs up with a splutter followed by a refusal to start !! Is there any known problem areas we can check to see if water is getting in ? , the plug lead and cap are in good condition and feeling around it gives no shocks or shorting.
Any ideas ?
Cheers, Karen

The Black CDI box at he back of the engine where all the wires go in is possibly cracked and leaks or the wires in there are frayed, pull the rubber cap off to see if the wires are ok, if they are see if he can borrow a good one and try it in the rain before he buys a new one, about £20. My scoter did it when I was about 17 and my brother helped me out, hope this helps.

One of those big fishing umbrellas from Argos should do the trick! ;D

I bought my PX 3 weeks ago - Its still running in of course, so it needs to be coaxed to run in rainy weather. I use mine everyday to go to work on and really notice a difference on these cold, damp mornings. Sometimes it seems like it has no power at all. On a sunny afternoon at the weekend it performs great and feels a lot more powerful. I asked my local vespa/piaggio dealer and they reccommended taking it easy in wet weather and making sure the revs were kept low. Sometimes not easy when I'm still getting used to the gear changes! It seems as though mine is grumpy in wet weather just like its owner!!
