This might seem a daft question but how easy should it be to remove the back wheel. My stand is shorter than a Vespa std so both the front and rear wheels are touching the ground which is not ideal especially if you get a puncture in the middle of nowhere. Even if the rear is jacked well up, when I undo the wheel nuts and move the wheel sideward it's as if the wheel is too wide, it's a right wrestling match to get the wheel out from between the hub and the bodywork. Is this normal ?

Yes.. The solution is to 'roll' it around the hub (leave it in neutral) as you go.
I assume you're running a sports type tyre?

Try letting the tyre down too. Not much use if youre trying to fit your spare on the road tho'!! Theres a bit if a knack to it but its still a p.i.t.a.

As far as I know it's the original tyres as it's low mileage.

as nik says ,roll it with hub, theres only 1 way they come out n go back in ,if stand is short use blocks of wood underneath ,tho i usually pop the rear bumper off an use a axle stand there , H

You can lob it on its side after dropping the rear suspension, but that's getting a bit silly.

Exhaust off, then roll around as above. As Henri says, easier with the plastic bumper off though. It really is a knack you develop after time. If you're still having trouble, sellotape Semtex to each stud, and wildly attack with a petrol grinder.... Oh yes, record it too...,

Can't believe it's over two and a half years since I posted this. Going from struggling to take a wheel off to trying to decide what colour to paint a complete diy rebuild 😁
