If youre running auto lube then 98MJ 'should' be ok, if its with your 140/be5
But try the 100mj, especially if youre going to do the filter mods. It wont suprise me if you use a 102 with the be3/160.
Personally, 140/BE5/102 is where id start, or you might have another seize!! For this reason the idea is to start rich!
Idle jet, what do you have now?
Stock jet should be ok but you would likely need to adjust your mix screw (out another 1/2 turn or so)
The change in beat/tone/rpm is subtle yes!
And remember it should be adjusted on a warm engine! Take it for a quick spin first. Dont trash it!
To notice the difference when you adjust the mix screw (I'll give it a go).....
First, with the warm motor idling high (turn the throttle slide adjuster screw in a little, so it revs a little higher)
turn the idle mix screw all the way in, then very quickly out again to 1 complete turn, (so it doesnt stall). If you listen closely you should notice a difference in rhythm/beat/pulse when you do this. It wont be 'even' and 'rhythmic'.
Now, try 'blipping' the throttle quickly a few times, as if you were waiting for the green light at the start of a race, or a traffic light!!
Notice how the throttle responds (it should respond very quickly, no bogging/delay) and also
how long it takes before it settles back down to a steady idle, it should be quite quick, no more than about 2 or 3 seconds.
If it takes a while to come back down, its lean.
If it bogs when you twist the throttle, its rich
Now, turn the screw out another 1 whole turn and while doing this, again, listen very closely to that change in beat/pulse. Its likely that its around this 1.5 - 2.5 turns out mark is where you need it.
Do this a few times to familiarize with the change in pulse.
Once you can 'hear' then try turning the screw with smaller adjustments....Personally, i listen for when the pulses speed up. Something like this,,,
Starting from screw all the way in, i turn it out 1/2 turn, 1/2 turn, wait for motor to settle, 1/2 turn, listening very carefully for a change in the change of pulse/famalairize with the sound of the pulses, blipping the throttle, checking for responsiveness.
Another 1/4 turn, again listening for that subtle increase in pulse, blip throttle again.
Another approx 1/4 turn in or out,
*to find that place where it pulses fastest*.
Then keep turning out very slowly, 1/8 turn at a time, to the point where it just begins to stop pulsing so fast.
*THIS is where the sweet spot is*
Its all very subtle so listen carefully.
If youre winding the idle mix screw all the way out and it has no affect then you need a bigger idle jet.
Youll no doubt try this a few times to notice what the hell im trying to explain!! Like henri says, tuning a carb over a computer aint so good!
And we all have our own ways.
If you want a really crisp, sharp take off then the throttle slide and cable may also need a fine tune but its not so important.
Hope you get it sussed.
I wouldnt call getting 2 heat seizes lucky
