I own a 2014 PX 125 that I've had for about 9 mths and have soon clocked up 6000 km using it as a daily ride , I've loved every mile of it and can't wait to get on it every morning before work ... anyways Last weekend I had it serviced at main dealer and had to have a new ignition switch ( covered by warranty so free ) ... All this week I've been unable to start it with the electric start ( it's totally dead as though I'm doing nothing) but kickstart works fine so no probs for work etc ... One thing I have noticed is when it's been standing a few hours (over night or all day at work) when it doesn't start with the electric start it also doesn't freewheel when in gear with the clutch lever pressed , it's as though I'm trying to push it without the clutch engaged , but once started (via kickstart ) I can switch it off and it'll freewheel in gear with clutch lever pressed and the electric start works fine again ....
Sorry it's long winded but trying to explain to see if it's something obvious or a common fault ...

Is the battery ok? If thats also under warranty take it back...it could be related to the new ignition switch!! Did it ever work after getting it back? If not, take it back!! Im not sure about the freewheeling thing...could be the electric start motor? Could be on its way out and seizing? If youre lucky it may just be a loose wire somewhere preventing the electric start from working.

If working fine before the 'warranty' item then take back and don't worry about YOU having to sort it. That's for after the warranty period is up!!!!

i cant see the starter seizing after 9 months , but it working again after kicking says it aint the starter motor but maybe a disturbed connection from switch change acting up, but the scoot acting like the clutch isnt working after standing is a worry ,if motor was staying engaged pushing the scoot with clutch in wouldnt make a diff , as others above say its under warranty chuck it back at dealer with the words " fix fit for purpose or new scoot/money back" an when he squinnys mention trading standards/consumer law. if ya want a guide on that ive found the telegraphs "honest john" forum/site has the relevant law , H

My starter didn't last a year Henri, so I'd not be surprised. Can't imagine what the other problem is though. BTW.. If L12ARD is your reg, I'd suggest changing your login

when pushing your scoot in gear with the clutch in, sounds like the plates not separating, which when cold is not uncommon for cosa type clutch's, a bit of adjustment will probably help with that.

my starters dont last 15 mins after the socket set comes out, god gave me a leg to kick things with, so i kick my scooter, does that make me a "bad man" , H It actually felt great to have to use the kickstart all week , an extra retro feel .. I aint used a kickstart since my old yammy RD days when I was a young un' ...
The scooter dealer had no ideas when I popped in and explained the problem , so it's booked in for next Sat morning ... After a lil research last night, the electric start has a safety switch triggered when the clutch is operated before it turns over ,so if the clutch isn't doing what it should when cold maybe it's not triggering the safety switch to allow the electric start to work ... Anyways I'm just a dumb truck driver so I'll let the experts loose on it next weekend and enjoy the warranty repairs (hopefully warranty anyways )...

the clutch switch for the leccy start is up on the lever an wont effect the clutches operation , i had a thought that a leccy start that only works when the scoots been run could just be a battery that wont hold a charge or is failing with the cold.scoots do tend to overcharge n eat batterys but it should last more than a year ,it should still be under guarantee i'd of thought, i use to run a air cooled rd400 back in the day ,an always lusted after a lc 1, an there aint nothin dumb bought driving a truck ,on todays roads its a real special skill, H
