being the arse that I am I have managed to lose 2 sets of keys for my px125 over the last few weeks
i have had some more cut but they dont work, this was using the code imprinted on the neck of the ignition lock.
anyone got any ideas what else I can try before I have to send it off to my local dealership where I will be raped for a huge sum of money
any advice is much appreciated
cheers Andy

as nik says where are ya , an ive had new keys that dont work , a bit of experimentation with a needle file an makin sure theres no burrs an they might start to work , an rather than gettin "butt raped without lube" by ya local "friendly" piaggio dealer (read as "invasive walletectomy"an yes its as painful as it sounds) unless your sure ya keys arent traceable to ya scoot makin it really stealable ,how bout changing the barrel , its not that hard an if ya aint up for it any competent mech-head can do it loads cheaper than ya local piaggio guy , i'm in brighton/hampshire an cud do it as ya wait , 2 hours max n that includes fag/coffee/wank breaks , H

Don't drill it, it's easy enough to pull out. You're going to have to trash the toolbox lid though.

Id suggest trying the quickest n easiest method first... As henri mentioned earlier, a quick go using a small fine file or even wet n dry to smooth any burrs on the keys.. Sliding it in and out of the cylinder quickly and repetitively (or er)! will also help... Often its the 'shoulder' of a newly cut key that prevents the key going in all the way and as such it doesnt work. Simply file this part down so the key can go in further. Its worth a go anyway. The shoulder is (hard to describe)! ...the part of the blade, left uncut, between the 'handle' part of the key and the cut blade part of the key. It will likely touch the cylinder when fully inserted. If you think the cylinder could be slightly seized/not used for years, a squirt of a 'dry' oil spray down the cylinder or on the key, such as silicone spray or dashboard cleaner would also help. Graphite powder would be ideal. Wd40 as a last resort. Im probably way off track here but is this part of the steering lock too? Turning the steering as you turn the key would also help.

doulsy , the 6mm p series lock ya got is held in by the cover n rivets , ya have to drill them 1's if youve lost the keys , groovevilles px125 prob has the later type , you need to go behind the horncast n remove the ignition switch by a grub screw , then fish the steering lock bit out with pliers ,it an the lock barrel are held in by a U shaped wire spring clip , if memory serves , an vespaco has explained wat i meant by fettlin the key loads better than i did, ive a pot of graphite powder i got at a garage sale ,havent seen it for sale since, halfords do a graphite spray lock lube ,or old skool is rub ya key with a pencil, simples , then stick it in an try n turn it once, pull it out an where the grapthite is worn off an keys catching file it a tickle an try agin , otherwise learn to "riffle" but that only works on worn locks an i aint tellin how on a open forum as its other name is "lock picking" , try youtube for a demo , H
