Hello.. Speedo has not worked since putting new extended forks in bike. I had an extended cable made (inner and outer). I replaced the worm, checked the cable from the hub end with a drill and this showed the needle move on the speedometer on the headset. Cable connects into the worm ok, I have not taken the front hub off yet to check as this is a compete ball ache, have I missed anything to check?
Thanks in advance...

If its anything like the vespas ive had,,,, and the wheel/worm gear turns the cable at the speedo end, and the needle moves as you described (with the drill at the wheel end etc),,,,,, make sure the cable doesnt pop out after/when you screw it all together...it doesnt take much for the inner cable to pop out! Especially if its slightly too short!!? Hopefully its as simple as that.

One thing I forgot to mention, when testing, the speedo worked temporarily after I pulled the front brake lever

if you mean the needle flicked on pulling brake ,its prob what vespaco says cable routing , with cable straight the inner can look long enuff ,but when going round the bends n curves between hub n speedo retreats into the outer ,if ya got a long enough outer made up try trimming 5mm from it an re-fitting ,had similar deal on lengthened/raked lammy forks i built, with cable in hub but not attached at speedo end but in position where it would be if speedo's on ,spin front wheel the normal direction of rotation an see if cable spins ,if not prob is def hub end , H

Trimming the outer at the hub end 5mm has deffo fixed similar problem for me before. Also, as you mention the business with the brake lever making the speedo work for a bit, I'd be thinking about checking control/speedo cables crossing/rubbing in the headset too. It's easily done to put a new (brake)cable in over the top of the others in a hurry, and not notice the snagging until the headset is back on. I confess that I recently did this, and haven't yet been arsed to put it right because it isn't actually snagging, and I'm replacing worn levers on soon anyway - it's on the list...........
