Look what has combined my dog yesterday
At the kennel I had passed off as a dog that would become of large size, the reality was quite different. First it was a dwarf, also I doubt that it is a dog when you consider the circumstances in which I found the seat of my Vespa seriously beginning to think that it has adopted a Tasmanian Devil.
So I decided to send the lovable pet with quick package towards Hobart (Tasmania) to buy the seat of the new 2011 Vespa Px.
To tell you the truth when I saw caught my attention: the larger, the rush for the passenger and the shape tapering towards the tip have made her the object of my desires. However I hate to buy items if you already own one that fulfills the same task, that is why I always gave up.
Now, however, the occasion was propitious, I could leave the "dog" in roadside and leave, I had a valid excuse to resurrect the habit of compulsive shopping that only the combination internet / credit card manages to calm down.
Without delay I am looking for starts on eBay. The pupils are dilated, fingers run faster on the keyboard, the manic smile shines again when I browse the mouse every probable chance of some strange accessory for my Vespa. In a flash the individual saddle, description ok, original Piaggio, serious seller, very reasonable price, so ... we are ready for assembly.
With the joy of those who shoot a hobbie neglected for a long time, I approach the tool trolley and immediately come to mind a few quick solutions;
1) I grab a bat 4 kg and brandishing chasing the dog who runs away ??!
2) take the "tools of the trade" and I am going to dig the hole to the unclean beast ??!
3) change the seat !!
About this last surgery is really very simple:
Start by removing the old seat from the frame by removing the three hex head screws that anchor it to the frame.
With the seat resting on a table can extract easy from the lock body that will be installed on the new seat, it is sufficient to unscrew also in this case, three hexagon bolts smaller than the previous
removing the lock body.
Eyes more observant will have noticed that the previous seat there were lashings elastic installed under the rubber pads.
Those tapes positioned to "cross" I serve as a holder for small objects stored in the cavity of the under-seat. I can stiparvi a cloth bag containing: work gloves, all transmission cables, reflective vest. So I preserve additional free space in the front trunk.
E 'is understood that also this hack will migrate to the new seat and the swabs are removed very easily, just pull them away.
At this point, the buffers are inserted in a previously perforated elastic webbing so that each buffer passes through a flap of the webbing at two points, this to ensure a better seal avoiding that the elastic threads will be damaged early.
It may be advisable to lubricate a little tip swabs to facilitate their reintegration.
I just have to mount the new seat on the frame in steps in reverse order of removal.
My focus falls on the two "rooms" highlighted in green.
A beautiful genius by Piaggio! Really.
At the time of closure of the seat, the two rooms housing the respective implications metal (highlighted in blue) of the hook holder.
In fact, should prevent, or at least make it more confusing, the theft of the helmet fact trying to avoid plastic deformation of the saddle.
Certainly not prevent the pigeons and cats to leave a souvenir, so I always prefer to take the helmet with me or at least put it in the rear case.
