im a bit confused with my chassis number, mine has DGM 16@@@ OM VSX 1T * @@@@ *
when i check scooter help and put the four digits between the stars it comes back as a 78 p200e same as my engine, but if i put in the 5 digits between the letters in it comes back as a 79 p200e, when i put my reg in the dvla website it tells me its a blue 78 p200e, i have stripped the paint of and it is defo blue from factory, seems strange to me that the dvla think the frame has been swapped.

To be fair , Scooterhelp do print a disclaimer , saying that they are not perfect , and frame/ engine numbers may differ to what they say.

doulsy , the dgm number is just a "homulngation" number i think, might of spelt that wrong , it proves yours is a european scoot as there not used elsewhere ,its the letters between stars that count ,if youve sent others to dvla that might of confused em into thinkin its a chassis swap, vespaco ,from what i'm learning of moto-vesp's smallies they use a italian style pre-fix , ie vm9t/vm1t ,type , or thats how my 1970 125 super luxe primavera is marked , reckon your 80's baja guess is where my moneys being punted , H

Theres been some serious amount of patch work and welding going on. What do you plan on doing with this ? An overall picture would have been great. Its a bit like doing a jigsaw without the picture. Most of it looks like a Bajaj

DVLA will have the year it was registered, not the year of manufacture. This makes perfect sense - manufactured in 78, first registered in 79

Most of it looks like a Bajaj Yes your right.. its been customised it's been made longer and wider.. I have totally stripped it down now and it's going if to be blasted, then it's going to be welded and smoothed off much better quality than it is now. All the straches sorted dents are going to be shrunk then its going be galvanised, then spray painted ( not sure of colour) . I'm shipping the engine and the casing will be aqu blasted. I did think in the first place it was older but first UK registered was 1980 however it has a sticker on it showing a guitar vespa club (cannot find this on the net) but that would seem to show the widening was done before it came to the UK.

I mean that there seems to have been a lot of repairs.. I would check the chassis for structural damage or bad repairs.. Maybe its just the because of the quick spray job that its had or because I'm looking at it only small phone. The insides of the side panel looked like it had been made out of small scrap pieces, like a patchwork quilt.. If so i would double check the rest of chassis (or get a professional opinion if you're not sure)....Hopefully I'm wrong. Hopefully someone else here will give a second opinion. If you have a pic or 2 of the whole scooter it would help. It looked like you have 8"-10" rims too.

from what i can see on youtube ,thats a indonesian vbb copy thats had front mudguard changed to look like a low-light earlier model , an stretching/widening to look more old/desirable or cooler is a far east thing ,very common in bali/indonesian scoots ,they dont have mot's for road worthiness an the engineering quality of work isnt always safe , for instance the nearside engine mount looks pretty dodgy an the cracks in paint above it can indicate flexing of chassis due to weakness or rust under the filler n paint job coming through again , seriously before spending any money on the scoot you need to get it blasted to bare metal an checked by a engineer for safety ,as with what i could see on that video i wouldnt ride it ,an my daily hack is 2-3 scoots welded together ,the work was done abroad but i stripped n checked it before risking my skin on it ,where in uk are ya ,might be able to give you a name of local scoot engineer for a eyes on honest opinion , H an when ya say widened/stretched ,ive looked at vid again an cant see it ,unless your meaning it coz the floor runners are too short , there px 1's an vbb chassis are longer n wider standard , measure from seat arch nose to top bearing ring below headset ,shud be about 14 3/8 inch had another look n noticed horizontal seem on horncast ,italian vbb's its a 1 piece pressing n theres no seam , so its def a later eastern copy in my opinion an prob indonisean ,an the crazy paving cracks are paint reactions from incompatible paint types prob 2pac over original cellulose ,
