Hi again,,
looking at replacing my CDI unit as mines looking a bit worse for wear!!
I'm looking at replacing my Ducatti for a Ducatti but have not a clue how I would change the spark plug lead over!!
Or do they come with already??? All the pics show the unit but not the cable

You can get them with, but it's very easy to change - the lead just screws in at CDI end and at cap end. Probably worth getting a new lead and cap, whilst you're at it anyway, whether buying with CDI, or buying the bits; it isn't expensive.

Something like this: beedspeed.com/spark-plug-resistor-cover-lb05f-p-169.html beedspeed.com/lead-metre-p-205.html
Don't forget your boots!

Always on the ball again Sime66 ,,, Cheers.
Would it be best to stick with a Ducatti or would a cheaper alternative be sufficient??

Mate, that's a curly one - you'll get as many different answers as people you ask. The last one I bought was a Ducatti. Having said that, I'm very shortly going to get myself a spare to carry, and I think I remember correctly the our Henri gave some advice, which I intended to find. I'll have a quick squizz back through my stuff and see if I can find what it was. I've also seen a lot of people recently talking about this BGM one for higher revs, but I have a personal one-man boycott going on with their importer, so will not link to it.

Not so cheap but I got one of these CDIs for my Polossi last month www.kheper-scooter.comWas a bit tricky to get fitted under the panel without touching the back of the indicator but well impressed with the performance and fiddle ability on the laptop. Extra torque to counter my lard and 2mph quicker on the first program I ran A programable CDI gets totally over the problem of needing advanced timing at low rpm and retarded timing at high rpm.

See what I mean fpb? You’ve got H spending the price of a cup of tea and a bun at one end of the spectrum, and pxguru taking out a 2nd mortgage at the other. (€150 is £120 roughly). It is a bit flash though. I’ve seen the little snap-on top jobbies with a dial, which always looked a bit poorly made to me. I do like a bit of gadgetry, but I’d be a bit worried about something needing a USB connection floating around on the back of my engine; you’ve only got to get a bit of muck in there when you lift the cover and it’ll be buggered. Mines out in all weathers, squirted with WD40, and smeared with Vaseline for good measure. Don't think my old donger will be getting one of these. What you really need is a WiFi one, and maybe an app, so you can adjust it as you go.

You could. But it would be as easy to carry a 7" tablet in a small bag, and wouldn't have as many vibration issues to contend with.
I ran a Hitachi one (red, looked nice and was free...) for a couple of years, but then swapped back to a Ducati one after reading a few horror stories about the Hitachi ones. A mate borrowed the Hitachi one and is still running it on a cutdown about six or seven years later. Remember, the Hitachi one only went on after the standard Ducati one failed...
BTW, I've realised my Cosa has a black Ducati one, don't think I've seen one of those before!
